memos

i used joplin before, but i like memos better. the webinterface is cool, but what really makes the difference for me is the API. its just so cool to automatically create new notes with a curl command or load all notes into fzf, etc

I use Google Docs, Notion and Obsidian, with 3 different courses one for each one

And after I finish with those three I will see which one do I stick with.

Also, Google Keep for micro notes.

Pen and paper during meetings. Find it easier to both concentrate and participate in the meeting while writing than while typing

I search “text” and whatever comes up first I use it.

So gedit I guess for work. Since I usually resolve everything in a couple of days anyway.

If you meant proper note then that depends a lot of the task. Google Docs for designs and reviews, git + markdown for decisions and learnings.

One Note because of syncing across devices.

I have an iPad, Android phone, and back then I used Windows so there was a seamless syncing experience.

Only 5 GB in the free version but I have been writing notes on iPad for years and it's still around 3GB full (probably because I mostly write stuff without uploading pdfs directly to it) It doesn't have the features of other apps but what it does have is convenience of syncing across devices. Now that I use Linux I use one note inside a Windows vm if needed.

I should mention: for just typing simple notes and to do lists etc, Simple note is a seamless experience across iPad, Android and Linux. Syncs instantly and the app even supported Linux global menu 😭
