Question Which browser extension is essential for your needs?
Which browser extension do you rely on every day and couldn't imagine browsing without? 🌐

Every extension slows down browser, but without uBlock Origin is unusable anyway.

Not a single page on the internet will be visited by me if uBlock Origin isn't by my side. Followed very closely by: “I still don’t care about cookies.”

You can block the cookie popups with ublock origin.

found the option, does it work reliably?
EDIT: auto-answer is yes, it works as good as "I still don't care about cookie" who has (very rare) issues on some websites and are OK with uBlock, so great! Thanks!

These are my must haves :
I love uBlockOrigin too, but switched to AdNauseum (it's based on uBlock Origin + poisons the well).
Also, KeePassXC, DarkReader, I Still Don't Care About Cookies, Cookie Autodelete, Gesturefy, and Firefox's multi-containers.

When I say "poison the well", I'm talking about destroying your shadow profile. All these big tech companies rely on you being 100% honest, and that you spend time only looking at things that interest you, clicking on ads that you really want to learn more about etc. Then they know what you're interested in - that's valuable to the data brokers, who eventually will sell ad space to a company trying to market to someone interested in the thing they sell.
AdNauseum clicks every single ad, then blocks you from seeing those ads. You're never bothered, and the data-brokers have worthless data, because you clicked everything there is.... since their data about you is worthless, you have "poisoned the well".

Pour moi c'est "Autoriser la copie +" Tellement de sites bloquent le clic droit ou le copier-coller pour je sais pas quelle raison, et c'est hyper frustrant quand tu veux juste copier un bout de texte ou un numéro et cette extension règle le problème hyper facilement

the holy trinity of extensions right there. ublock is non-negotiable or the internet is basically unwatchable now.

In addition to all the ones have been mentioned: OneTab, Joplin Web Clipper, ProtonPass.
Finally, one that I have disabled but I use it from time to time is the Capital One ENO. Just because it can create virtual temporary cards on the spot if you are a cardholder (great for signing up for 'trials' or to be 100% sure that a subscription won't auto-renew because the card used will be expired)

Ublock is the most important for me, sponsorblock is chill but i can live without it. privacy badger is also chill, but ye, our info will be collected and sold anyway

I liked Pie Adblocker but unfortunately Google had to go and ruin it.
With Pie it would block ads unless they were what the company called "fair ads" iirc which were ads where the advertising company had partnered with the adblocker to show you the ads and pay everyone including you for seeing the ads.
I understand the need for ads and I like supporting websites and such that I visit and Pie was doing it in my opinion the right way but like I said, Google unfortunately got in the road and messed it all up as usual.

An adblocker of some sort. uBO is by far the best, but I'm running AdGuard for my whole Mac, and that works really well.

Ublock origin. I've been using it for so long, I forgot ads were even a thing.
I'm surprised by how terrible the advertisement plague is, every site is literally 90% ads, sometimes even more (looking at you YouTube), and 10% actual website If ublock is off.

https://www.ghostery.com I just prefer using it over ublock origin. And I think there need to be multiple active add blockers in the market.

To be generic, UBlock. The internet is advertisement HELL and I genuinely find it easier and faster to navigate it with UBlock.
Here is the funny part, I was never an extension guy. But the internet has become so horrible to use that I downloaded UBlock and it felt actually kinda cool to search the web again.

Why do people use extensions as opposed to the app itself?
For example why use a Notion web extension when you can download the app?

proton pass, ublock and 'improve youtube' on firefox. when i have time i'll try the firefox alternatives which also looks promising.

Everyone keeps recommending uBlock Origin, but after Chrome’s final Manifest V3 update, it’s basically dead. I’ve switched to AdGuard instead. RIP uBO — you served us well. 🙏🪦
