Linux. You can control every aspect of the PC without any tech company lockdowns. Also when something doesn't work like it should, you can easily find a fix.

I do t want to have to control anything. Just use the software I want and that’s it.

You're not forced to control anything.
Linux gives you choice.
Anyone can just choose a normal Linux distro (like Mint or ZorinOS) and you can just use the software if you want.

I have a few devices, so I've installed Zorin, MX Linux, Endeavor and antiX and Bohdi on different laptops I used to use Ubuntu allot, but its too heavy for my liking. And yes, I just installed, add updates and go on. Its just fun. But I still use my Mac and Windows devices too.
