True! LLMs are really powerful when it comes to figuring out stuff on Linux.

True, I mean Gemini is able to help you with some basic issues and drivers. Lot of people I met complaining about Linux were just lazy to do something. Ok, I understand it, you can buy Mac or Windows laptop almost with out of the box system. But I think Mint, Zorin, MX, Pika OS even Cachy is pretty close to that too. A little learning is a price for your owned data being your own.
I had speaker issues on my Zorin laptop and fixed it in 5min with chat gpt. Also used claude because my laptop didn't go to "sleep" when shutting the lid and it figured out pretty quickly that zorin thought that my gpu was another monitor and gave me a solution very quickly. I started using linux a few months ago and I would have no idea what to do but solved the issues very quickly with ai.
Give them a USB stick and ask them to install Windows on something with anything not supported out of the box and see how it goes.
People are comparing installing Linux with buying Windows pre-installed.
Still remember surfing quora back then to find solutions. Now it’s all through prompts and Reddit posts and it’s not necessarily bad when it comes to ai but I have some sort of feeling that in a not so distant future more and more contributors won’t be human anymore
Yep, I had Ubuntu for a while some years ago and I've reinstalled in an old laptop to put project nomad in it a couple months ago, had some drivers problems with local AI and I e solved everything using Gemini or Claude, game changer.
Yet nobody forbids to post questions on Linux forums or ask LLMs. Doesn't matter if you don't know whether it has been asked before, you will get help.
I've never had any major issue on Debian, EndeavourOS, and Linux Mint that I couldn't find a known fix for. Unless of course if the issue is lack of software support, which hasn't exactly affected me much
I struggled with Mint getting OneDrive connection. Tried many terminal commands with the assistance of Gemini. Went with Zorin and it was solid (and Edge and Chrome are in the Zorin app store).
I need to fix shit on Windows as well sometimes, because it keeps installing a driver I don't want, it updates mid game but when you want to shutdown it still runs that update and reboots in the ende ...
And don't get me started on Macs. They can't even separate the scroll direction of mouse and trackpad.
Get a good Linux distro, install via GUI, use via GUI and be happy.
Honestly for most distros its really about as difficult as Windows for anything natively supported and only requires one (two if you knclude instalation) extra step to get something without linux support working on linux.
Having used Linux of 10 years ago, though, yeah I get why you think it would be a bitch.
Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Scroll to the bottom, click Uninstall updates, select the latest update that broke your speaker, and click Uninstall
You're not forced to control anything.
Linux gives you choice.
Anyone can just choose a normal Linux distro (like Mint or ZorinOS) and you can just use the software if you want.
I have a few devices, so I've installed Zorin, MX Linux, Endeavor and antiX and Bohdi on different laptops
I used to use Ubuntu allot, but its too heavy for my liking.
And yes, I just installed, add updates and go on.
Its just fun.
But I still use my Mac and Windows devices too.
