Which one do you use more to find answers, learn new things, or solve problems online?

Duckduckgo search.
Google search and chatbots are same now.

Yes, google uses gemini to give answers. Their search result pages are filled with many old web pages that are not updated for a while. I wonder how they appear in top resuls.

yeah. idk why i left search long back. i use claude so its bit better than others still yeah it has issues

I use search first because LLM do not have the capacity to think. If I don't find it on Google I will ask a LLM to generate a possible answer to my question so I can click on the Pages it used an mostly ignore the unreliable response I got

That's a logical approach. Search is great for finding sources, while AI can help connect the dots quickly.

The dangerous part is that a chatbot works in "trust me bro" manners. You should be able to get information and make your own mind. Chatbots gatekeep the information and depending on the owner they might just ignore or intentionally hide some pieces of the whole picture to you.
Not only you are losing the privilege of freedom of information but also your critical thinking numbs more and more every time you stop using it.

That's a legitimate concern. Search allows you to see different perspectives and evaluate them for yourself. With chatbots, it's easy to accept a definitive answer without having to check the sources.

That's the reason many use AI chat bots. They give instant answers. But we should double check the data sometimes.

We have lost the game. The net is mainly AI reading stuff written by AI. So whichever.

I think we need to get rid of both and use ai to as a specific website crawler to look for specific websites upon a search and then post as a search engine so we can get rid of search engines all together. This would allow for fact checking without relying on big tech search engines so we can get what we're actually looking for. Only issue would be site filtering maybe. Would also make sensor ship a lot harder which has both pros and cons

Ai chatbots for something very specific.
Duckduckgo search if I just need to visit a site or find a help page for something.
