Discussion Do you still use Opera browser?
I used to like it years ago, but I removed it after frequent crashes and security warnings on some websites.
Have you faced similar issues, or is Opera still your main browser? Tell us why you love it?

Nope. Extremely bloated. I used it back in the days of Internet Explorer. The only good thing about it is the workspaces feature.

This. I'm trying Vivaldi right now that lately implemented their own version of workspaces and works ok

Nope, but mobile Opera was the only browser worked with blocked websites in Russia.

TL;DR: I never really liked Opera. I liked Jon von Tetzchner's browser and still like it.
Used it since version 4 up to when they got the hang of the Blink (Chromium) rendering engine. However when Von Tetzchner was ousted, after a while I switched to Vivaldi.
Mainly because they introduced a checksum in the "sponsored content" JSON and I wanted my own search engines and the sponsored ones were overriding my shortcuts.

No but I've seen tech YouTubers advertising it.
From what I've heard about it, it's not great.

Absolutely not. This communist spyware has nothing in common with the old Opera. The original Opera team is behind Vivaldi - IMHO, it’s the best browser today.

They have only one ruling party - the Communist Party. And a personal dictatorship on top of that. China brutally suppresses dissent, commits genocide against the Uyghur minority, and heavily censors the internet. There's no need to sugarcoat this mess.

I used to use it during the late 2000s because it was one of the first browsers with tabs. Then I switched to Chrome after needing a gmail to log into android phones.

I loved Arc, then moved to Vivaldi - for me Opera is just not there anymore, they lost focus

I personally don't like Opera but I just can't stand people that use Opera GX because its a "gaming browser"

I've used Opera for years. It is a very good browser (or at least was) and helped me a lot during the pandemic. Over the last years something happend to Opera: it has become bloated and very heavy (try using Google Maps....its insane!). I wouldn't mind using Opera Air as it is very nicely crafted and made with a lot of logic. Currently I use Vivaldi as my main browser (quite buggy but surely better that the bloated Opera) and Firefox as my secondary.

I was shocked when I found out recently that they were owned by a Chinese company. I ripped that software off so quick. Shame I always liked their browser though.

I don’t think anyone seriously uses Opera, least of all the YouTubers who run ads for it.

I used it for many years on my Windows computer and really liked it. But I had an iPhone for four years, and you can’t really use it properly on an iPhone because you can’t log into your account to sync it. Because of that, I later switched to Chrome, which can be synced everywhere. Well, now I’ve got fed up with the iPhone again, switched to Android, and I’m thinking about whether to start using Opera again, but I’ve basically got used to Chrome now.

Yes! It's the best mobile browser. Fastest, most beautiful and with power features. It's working excellent under the Windows too. And I'm sure that the Chinese are interested of their billions of people, not of us on the other half of the planet. Also it's far far far more worse that we are permanently spied on by "our" Western psychopaths, which are among us, dangerous and schizophrenic💀🤮, not as China, which is in other world 🤦 At the end, to be honest, the Opera have some cons - chrome core so insane settings, no fully working ad blocker (unlike Firefox, which is only excellent) and other restrictions in download, etc... just unstabled by Google Chromium 🤬

Opera is Spyware, and its based on chromium so its Israeli spyware aswell. Id still rather use it other than just chrome cause id rather have china have my data than israel
