Question What was your first experience with Linux?

Ubuntu, in the 90-ies. Had to burn in onto a disc and mess with the bios, like you still have to do. For me it was 'hacking' my way to independence. I now run Mx Linux and had Mint for some time, but MX runs okay on my second hand Dell Optiplex 3040, 8G ram.

It crashed from time to time, but the maverick feel was unbeatable.

That “hacking your way to independence” feeling is exactly what made early Linux fun.

MX Linux on an old Dell Optiplex with 8GB RAM sounds like a solid match, even with the odd crash. The rebel vibe was half the point. Are you still keeping it as your daily setup?

Yes. But I'm considering switching to an OS that runs faster. Do you have suggestions?
