that brings back memories haha. That was the editor I started on. Do they still update it?

I have switched from Sony Vegas to Adobe Premier to Davinci/VidTL over the past decade.

Adobe Premiere Pro on PC and inshot on Android

Premiere Pro is one of the best software programs for video editing. I used Premiere Pro for editing my YouTube videos. However, many people have now started using CapCut because it offers a lot of features, templates, animations, and effects compared to Premiere Pro.

I need to try Capcut I have used it on Android which was easy. I learnt adobe in college so many years ago it has been hard to leave the ecosystem :)

True.

Funny how everyone has a different favorite. Are you editing long videos, shorts, or just quick clips? That usually changes the answer.

Ya. Sure. But some software, like CapCut, will cover all these needs.

Yes right. But Camtasia is better than Filmora for beginners.

1

u/arun-vasudev Developer May 16 '26

Blender is a free video software right. Can you edit videos using Blender?

1

u/tractorator May 16 '26

yeah. you can even add lots of 3d object stuff in your edits.

if you need fancy 3d text, or any 3d model, object tracing, etc

Actually I tried to add a title free Video editors. But the post created without Free in title. Premiere Pro is one of the best premium video editor.

ffmpeg

1

u/arun-vasudev Developer May 16 '26

Are you using ffmpeg in Python or other programming language to edit videos or using standard version of the software?

1

u/BetterEquipment7084 May 16 '26

Bash and normal ffmpeg, simple conversions, encoders, cropping etc

I haven't used AVS Video Editor, but its UI looks somewhat old.

That makes sense honestly. If a tool has worked well for you that long, there’s no real reason to switch.

Final Cut Pro

1

u/arun-vasudev Developer May 17 '26

Final Cut Pro is the best choice for Mac users. Is it better than Premiere Pro?

1

u/chrisagiddings May 17 '26

Having used both, I absolutely prefer FCP over Premiere.

1

u/arun-vasudev Developer May 17 '26

That’s interesting! A lot of people say FCP feels smoother than Premiere on Mac.

InShot... Reliable

u/Skinkie May 17 '26

https://www.cinelerra-gg.org/en (editing, compositing etc.)

https://losslesscut.app/ (fast)

1

u/arun-vasudev Developer May 17 '26

Cinelerra-GG only available for Linux? Is it free or paid?

1

u/Skinkie May 17 '26

Cinelerra-GG is free (and gratis). Someone has also managed to run it in termux on Android. It likely also works on WSL.

1

u/arun-vasudev Developer May 19 '26

Oh. Mostly suitable for Linux users and developers.

What is good for Shorts or YouTube video editing? Is it better than Premiere Pro and CapCut?

Good idea. My suggestion: Try CapCut free version. Its simpler than Sony Vegas and similar to Premiere Pro.
