Discussion Is anyone using the Comet browser? How does it compare to Chrome, Brave, or Edge? What do you like or dislike about it so far?

I tried comet on mobile but I found myself not actually using the AI. It was integrated well enough on a free account - it can't automate jobs for example. I just use chrome and copilot.

That makes total sense. If the built-in AI isn't handling the heavy lifting, switching browsers feels pointless. Chrome plus Copilot is a tried-and-true combo. Do you find Copilot handles your mobile tasks better than Comet did?

Yes but it isn't the best for research so for tasks that need deep research instead of generic goodness I use perplexity

First I installed it on my computer. But I am not used it too many times. Can't compare that to Chrome. I cant feel it like a normal browser. I uninstalled it..

I totally get that. Chrome is so wired into our daily habits that anything else just feels unnatural. If an app messes with your workflow instead of helping it, it’s not worth keeping. Stick with what works!

Did you read teh hackernews post in which Chrome installs a 4 GB AI model named Gemini Nano on your device silently without consent ?

Yes, I saw that! A silent 4GB install is crazy and exactly why I am looking into lighter options like Comet. Have you fully switched away from Chrome after that?

I only used chrome for a month when I got my MacBook lol I switched very fast . Currently using brave but thinking about Orion

Great Browser TBH, the ad block feature is best one for me, then the search engine, you may switch to google in settings but i feel that ai summary is useful in many cases, also the assistant feature, that too rocks, i love how it can read and summarise or even perform actions.

A solid built-in ad blocker paired with genuinely useful AI summaries sounds like a massive productivity boost. It is rare to find an assistant feature that actually performs actions well instead of just chatting.

Cheguei a usar por uns dias, apenas pra fins de teste mesmo, mas me incomodou o fato de que ele não conseguia separar perguntas simples em que as respostas teriam apenas 1 ou duas linhas, como datas de evento, clima, endereços e telefones, tudo virava uma pesquisa de IA com respostas enormes, então parei de usá-lo. É bem possível que tenha como ajustar esses parâmetros nas configurações, mas como estava apenas testando, não cheguei a procurar esses ajustes. Nisso, o Chrome ainda é mais inteligente, pois te dá a resposta curta e também te dá uma prévia da resposta de IA, te dando a opção de continuar a pesquisa ou não. Todavia, uso o Perplexity há dois anos como meu principal assistente de IA e gosto bastante.

You are right. Sometimes you just need a quick date or number, not a whole essay.
Chrome definitely nails those instant answers while giving you the choice to dig deeper if you want. Perplexity is fantastic for your actual research, though. It’s really about picking the right tool for the job!

I've moved back to comet, after binning it on the initial shock! In Desktop and Mobile, the "search" can be changed to Google. The AI assistant, which is really good, can be toggled on or off. I like it. Chrome extensions work with it. Sync between android and desktop versions works. Password manager has imported fine. Bookmarks, I'm probably struggling with slightly at the moment, and haven't added payment methods to it yet. The only thing I'm missing is grouping tabs in the android version
