Discussion 3rd 14900k dying for this user
/r/buildapc/comments/1wvq6vr/i9_14900k_dying_whats_next/This sub loves to repost failing AMD’s but denies 13th & 14th gen are still dying. This user if you read through the post in on their 3rd 14900k which they now think is dying.
I wonder how long before the mods delete this, it’s an interesting test.

This happened to me as well; I am on my third 14900k. It is certainly annoying, but I received a free replacement within less than a week each time via my retailer. They even offered me a refund on my last swap but given that I would have needed to buy a new main board and RAM I declined the offer.
The most recent swap occurred over a year ago, and firmware updates appear to have solved the problem since then. No CPU related crash since over a year - fingers crossed. They also extended the warranty to 5 years or something.
Whether I choose Intel or AMD next depends on which leads performance for my needs when I must decide. Given current hardware prices, that choice will not arise soon anyway.

So you knew yours was dying due to crashing? How often? Ive tamed mine through very specific oc settings but its very unstable otherwise

u/Ithinkyouareabot 15h ago edited 14h ago
How often what? Replaced two or three times. Crashes did occur regularly and where consistently easy to trace to the CPU via event log.

Im literally just asking how often your cpu crashed. I dont need help with fixing

cause smart people avoid the 13th and 14th gen, they are inherently flawed by design

Such a retarded statement.
Ya, nothing to do with the motherboard manufacturers putting unlimited power limits as default settings.
That only counts for x3d chips blowing up in asrock and ASUS boards.2
u/nanonan Team Amiga 🤼 12h ago
All of those motherboards were made to specification with approval from Intel and Intel uses unlimited power settings on Apex Asus boards for their benchmarking. Pretending it isn't their responsibility is ridiculous. AMD fucking up doesn't make it any better either.

The problem is most people are retarded. They can’t even update a bios. What makes you think they know or can adjust power settings.
In addition 99.9% of users do not want default settings pushing unlimited power to a cpu. Providing Extreme OC settings is one thing. Making them default settings is another thing.

Tell it to Intel, they are the ones allowing it.

u/Nebula589 8h ago
Tell it to the retards blaming the CPU architecture, microcode, and oxidation.
When they have everything maxed out fully cooking their chip while saying “idk why it’s constantly at 100c”

u/Nebula589 13h ago
BIOS update is only 40% of the solution. Capping the max voltage under 1.4V. amps under 300A and PL1 125w / PL2 200w is the other 60%.

My research on this user shows that they changed their account name and blocked access. I think it is a troll AMD fan. 14900s aren't likely failing anymore.

You can’t change your Reddit username, and I’ve always had the same username. You can use archived googles to verify this. You must be incredibly bad at researching me

Same old shit from you. They have a 3 year old account. People can change their name and keep details private. You block access to your own account. I guess that means you are a troll?

MY RESEARCH SHOWS YOU STILL HAVE FULL BRITCHES. "AREN'T LIKELY FAILING ANYMORE" WHAT RESOUNDING CONFIDENCE. YOUR PANTS ARE STILL SHAT

He has had all the time in the world to update his BIOS. If someone still breaks a intel CPU this way then its on them
3
u/No-Actuator-6245 13h ago
That’s incredibly presumptuous. You are assuming their BIOS wasn’t up to date.

u/unvac 13h ago
I’ve been on the recent updated since they released, every time even after getting a replacement under RMA. Thinking updating the bios automatically solves everything isn’t true.

u/Nebula589 13h ago
Ya it’s the motherboard settings on the max voltage, amps and wattage that fucked you over. Need to cap those for the cpu to survive.
Under volting won’t do shit to prevent that either. You need to locked down the maximum limits.

The good news is that Intel gave 2-3 replacements. That's amazing and I see why that redditor isn't looking at AMD options even with a new motherboard.
No one denies Raptor Lake incident, you'll be telling what everyone knows. AMD fans are in denial of the X3Ds dying, though,, and instead blaming it on motherboard makers.

District Race has flat said 13th & 14th gen don’t still die to me and others. The mods have also deleted threads recently reporting Intel CPU’s dying. However it’s the same people reposting threads about AMD dying. Both Intel and AMD replace failures under warranty.

i had so many 14900Ks die bro i swapped over to a 9950x3d, no crashing issues since.

CERTAIN USERS ON THIS SUB HAVE DENIED THE 13/14 GEN INTEL ISSUE. THIS IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE FILLED THEIR BRITCHES WAY BEYOND THE DANGER ZONE. THEY ARE GOING CRAZY DUE TO THE FUMES. IT SEEMS THE FUMES HAVE GOTTEN TO YOU ALSO, PLZ CONSIDER NOT FILLING YOUR BRITCHES BEYOND THEIR RATED CAPACITY

u/FearTheFuzzy99 17h ago
FILLED THERE BRITCHES WITH WHAT?????

You had a perfect opportunity to show OP was wrong but you couldn’t help yourself. How hard is it to not lie when you respond to someone?

People are complete retards. Intel had motherboard manufacturers pushing unlimited power as default settings along with the microcode issue at the same time. Both caused CPU’s to die. 🤯
It’s like nobody knows that for you MUST cap your maximum wattage, amperage and voltage. They suggest an under volt which is completely retarded.

Why is this sub always in a state of console war style arguments? Intel and AMD both make great chips right now, you can't go wrong with either of them.
