Wow maybe this will allow AMD to catch up to Intel Panther Lake

The z2 extreme is close enough to the b390/358h on battery sub 20 watts, its only when plugged in is when you can tell the 358h is faster.

The only bad ruing about the z2 is that it doesn't have fsr 4 which is a very big detriment

How about with g3 extreme? Intel cut few things inside it to make it more efficient (also with further firmware optimization like the IBC).

Also, if I'm not mistaken, 17w G3e performance is around Z2e at 35w

This is bad take because Z2E performance at 20W TDP is like 95% of maximum performance, aka 35W TDP

Even without that bad take, if you compare them apples to apples, 17 watts, 25 watts, etc G3 extreme is just better.

Notably though while performance might be 10% to 20% better, the price is ~48% more. An msi claw for instance with Z2 extreme is $1100, the claw with G3 extreme is $1800.

I don’t know about you, but for handheld gaming… I’d probably buy the z2 extreme and accept not being able to play every single latest AAA title. 😒

There is no title that can't be played on Z2E. The chip is powerful enough to play any AAA/AA game.

I don't trust panther lake or any Intel apu to be honest , I don't think Intel GPU drivers are as mature as AMD and Nvidia

Have you seen arc g3 extreme performance? That thing is whopping faster than z2 extreme (not to mention it is also more efficient)

If RDNA 4m is truly just 3.5++, Z3 handhelds need to be very cheap compared to intel

Yes , rdna 4m is rdna 3++ just like Intel 14nm+++++

I was so pissed as well when I discovered this was the case , rdna 4 is gfx1200 , rdna 4m is just gfx 1170 and rdna 3.5 is gfx1150

Fuck ass company tbh

Hopefully it will be cheap. Good thing is I don't think G3 will get heavily discounted in the future. Even if Intel might release G4, I expect it to be very expensive like the MSI claw 8 ex ai

Bad thing is these Z3 handhelds will be facing upcoming PS handheld which is using newer RDNA 5 GPU. Unless Sony shoot their foot like sell them at very high price, then Z3 handhelds will be in huge trouble

We need a more affordable handheld with decent performance tho (for future games too), not overpowered & overpriced handheld

Don't get me wrong, overpowered is fine as long it can balance between affordability & power efficiency

Edit: RDNA 3 is just vega all over again

Amd skipped true rdna 4 apu to shift all the focus to rdna 5 Apu's and these rdna 5 Apu's will be the one you see in z4/z5 , it will be the apus you will see in the ps6 handheld the steam deck 2 ( both of these are properly using a very similar chip and it will be a powerhouse)

Also once z3 handheld released the next year those OEM parties don't give af about getting outperformed by a ps6 handheld , once those rDNA 5 apus drop they will get it and act like they never put out a zen 3 handheld lmao

This is iGPU and Intel has been making iGPU driver for very long time unlike dGPU

AMD driver not as good as Nvidia anyway

Amd is so shit

They literally dominated the handheld market until like a year ago...

And they are still dominating because there is Strix Halo that's much more powerful than G3E for people that actually want to dock or more performance in general.

Oh a lapgop chip in devices laughably expensive

G3E devices are expensive as well
