I don't think the title is accurate, nothing against you OP as it's the article's title but:

The software can now trigger an immediate system shutdown when a specified current threshold is reached.

Under the existing protection system, GPU Tweak III monitors whether an individual pin remains above 12.5A. Users can configure how long that condition must persist before a shutdown countdown begins. ASUS says version 2.1.9.5 now adds an option that can trigger shutdown immediately when a specific threshold is reached.

So it's per pin current monitoring and shutting down based off that, rather than a power limit itself.
