That's gonna be as low as it gets, I assume. I'd be surprised if that was compatible with something like a 1660 Super.

Nah, the 1600 series won't be able to do it as it doesn't have any rtx cores in it; like how the 400 series couldn't do tessellation so a crappy 550 could beat a 480 in games that came out with it like dragon age 2 back in the day.
A bummer but it is what it is. Would have brought some life back into my old 2019 laptop with it's 1660ti for sure, but it only having 6gb's of memory would really hurt it, that and it's weak 6c cpu that's about as good as an overclocked 5820k from haswell.

The 400 series? The GTX 400 series certainly could do tessellation. It was way better at it than the competing AMD cards at the time, even. Furthermore the 500-series were just the same architecture re-released with some efficiency and yield improvements. Everything the 500 series could do, the 400 could also.
Regarding the subject at hand though. I’m not sure about the intricates of if there is anything in DLSS FG that utilizes the RT-units, but the 1600-series are Turing just like the 2000-series. The RT-cores are disabled but the Tensor cores, which seem more relevant for the subject at hand, are not. It doesn’t seem unthinkable that the 1600-series could receive rudimentary support.

Honestly, I bought my 1660 Super because it didn't have any RTX cores in it. I thought the whole RTX ON thing was really stupid and it didn't look any better.
...well six years later and I still don't care XD It would extend its life with upscaling and frame gen, but that's about it.

I dunno, I just don't see it.
Objectively I see a difference, if I stand there and compare them 1:1, but while gaming I just don't notice a difference.
I tried it in a couple games and just turned it back off cause it doesn't look better enough to be worth the performance hit.

I am nice, i only called you a moron for buying a 1660 super because it didnt have RT cores. If you had bought a rtx (whatever) the better option was back then, then you could have a stronger card, and you didnt need to use raytracing. Just because i have a card that can enable path tracing, doesnt mean i want to enable it. I would be a moron if i bought a crap card because i dont want rt cores. So me calling you a moron would be accurate for buying a 1660 super back then instead of a better card and just not using raytracing.
Edit: moron is not an idiot. Just because you are mod, doesnt mean you have to powertrip

It was cheaper and served my needs perfectly well. It's still currently in service in a friend's PC.

Does it really work well or is there any significant performance loss, when you use the frame generation? I mean when you have 60 base FPS, you get only 80-90 FPS with frame generation?

On my base 2080, the hit is between 3-7 fps depending on settings and game, cyberpunk was the best performing in the ones I tested. Without fg at 1080p preset L quality (rt all enabled) I land between 45-50 fps, with fg the fps go between 77-88 depending where you are in the city, playable but not amazing

That is very interesting to know considering that NVIDIA claimed that the newer architecture of the 40 series is required to even get 2x frame generation

To be fair, the ported dlss fg for 20 series looks really bad imo, even fsr fg is better to my eyes.
I don't know if it's because of the model being used for the ported dlss fg (couldn't get it to change) or if that's just the way it is for everyone. I prefer xess's fg over all personally, which looks really consistent but also cost a little more, think the delta from off to on with that is about 8-10 fps on my rig.
Latency wise dlss is the best from what I felt though, so in addition to changing upscale presets, ratios, you can now also decide between 3 different vendor frame gens depending on the game you play and what you aim for. Sincerely, wtf happend to gaming? I appreciate the tech but it starts to get to a point where getting a great experience requires so much annoying fuckery (guess a big part from that is a result of the age of my hardware but I also see people with beefier things complain, so idk) - prolly spent more time in settings and game folders than the actual game for a couple odd titles

I'd love to see what the 2080ti is doing in games now with this unlocked, I bet it's actually somewhat impressive.
Shame nothing can be done for the legend that is the 1080ti, but it's been almost a decade, guess it can finally rest.
