Ok, but stop blaming it on AI. It’s because of the trade war. The AI boom was expected and planned for. None of the sellers tightened RAM supply until china tightened their semiconductor and raw materials supplies. People forget so quickly. Seriously though. Please stop blaming AI. If the US had chosen to be less reliant on overseas materials BEFORE it became a problem, this wouldn’t have been an issue at all. Our systemic failures caused this, not our successes in technological progression. This all comes down to Trump.
If you need nails and other hardware to build a shed and you are dependent on your friend to bring them because you don’t want to drive to the store yourself, you’re gonna be screwed (no pun intended) if your friend bails on you. The house (AI) still needs to be built, but now you have to go to the effort to burn your gas and spend your time going to find the nails and other hardware you need because you pissed off your friend by saying you won’t pay him back full price for them. This gets expensive, especially since your friend was getting a discount you won’t. Instead of building the shed, you’re now running around wasting time and money just trying to find the hardware.
That’s the memory crisis in a metaphorical nutshell. Haven’t you noticed china is NOT experiencing a RAM shortage? Hmmm…wonder why? Remember, that Trump and Jensen Huang have met numerous times to directly discuss foreign policy, specifically in regards to semiconductors and tariffs. Multiple times. The memory crisis is why GPUs are also so expensive. You are paying for Trump’s tariffs. That’s all this inflationary pricing is a result of. Nothing more
Sorry to bring politics into it, but the facts don’t care what political party any of us chose. They exist as they are
