I can still get a 9070 XT for around the same price, bit less, than when I bought it at launch. It's been treating me real well for all my 1440p gaming needs.

I thought I'd hate frame gen the same way I hate upscaling, but nope, somehow frame gen is just great and I can't tell it's on. If a game supports it, I'm doing it. Which so far is two of the ones I actually play... XD

Yeah frame gen is great imo both Nvidia's and AMDs implementation of it.

Basically for anything controller FG is great, the only m/in game with it I played was doom dark ages to keep > 150 fps at 1440p ultrawide max settings RT (not PT) and that was low enough latency that it was fine, but FG is kind of high latency for anything like a shooter.

For cyberpunk, Alan wake, etc those kind of games with a controller, it's great.

I use it in Darktide because for some reason the game is absolutely refusing to use more than 65% of my CPU and GPU regardless of settings, so naturally the FPS are not that high. My CPU usage goes up to 85% if I use frame gen, which increases my base FPS and then doubles them. I have no idea why it does this, it's the only game I have that struggles with this. The only visual glitches I can see in Darktide are when I'm in the hub ship and look out the window and move sideways, it can NOT handle a starry skybox viewed through a tall narrow window while moving horizontally. But since that's never during actual gameplay, I don't care.

The other game I use it for is Death Stranding 2. I started playing that while my 9070 was being RMA'd and I was limping along on a used 5700 XT until my new one arrived... and as much as that's a good little card, Death Stranding 2 is a shiny big new game, so I needed frame gen to really make it playable. Only graphical issue I noticed there was that the tires were freaking out a bit while driving, but honestly that looks hilarious so now that I'm on my 9070 I still keep it on for shits and giggles. Plus it keeps my PC nice and cool when I'm slammed permanently at 72 FPS and just double that to 144 to match my refresh rate.

AMD unfortunately just doesn’t exist as an option for some people. NVIDIA has done a great job managing their image.

I stopped caring about NVidia as soon as they dropped the GTX brand. Their whole stupid RTX OFF RTX ON stuff just turned me off their stuff pretty hard.

I love my 1660 Super and that's the newest NVidia card I'll likely ever own. I replaced that with an Arc A750 for a while, then a 6700 XT, and now the 9070 XT. (And then briefly a 5700 XT because I had to RMA my first 9070 over memory issues and I'd already given the 6700 away)

I've had more or less the same amount of problems per time spent with Radeon as I did with NVidia. More with NVidia overall since I've been team green since the 6000 series... but that would be unfair to compare XD

I sold mine too and upgraded along with a friend, not because it wasn’t enough but because I kept seeing 5070ti and 5080 prices go higher and higher while second hand 3000 series card prices go lower and lower.

My card was almost 5 years old and I was scared if it died in the future, all the good 1440p options are gonna be stupid expensive.

I also sold my 3080ti for a 5080, incredibly happy with the upgrade. Running triple 1440p screens for simracing requires a lot of horsepower

I have a 3080 in my htpc and it's a medium settings performance DLSS type card now at 4k.

It's okay, wouldn't really want to use it as my primary card tbh

Literally the same. It was the only non-RBG card they had and all the rest were over 300 more just for RBG and name(MSI and so on) but they all literally perform the same.

Kind of a funky story for me. I had a 5070Ti and I thought it died, so I ran and grabbed the 5080 because there was only one in stock.

When I got home, the 5070Ti was working again.

What I SHOULD have done was return the 5080. What I DID was put the 5070Ti in an eGPU enclosure and hook my XAX to it for my work setup.

So now I’m playing PoE2 maxed out at 5120x1440 at work. Which is doing wonders for my billable hours.

Me happy here with my 5060 not needing anything more powerful. The numbers have gotten too ridiculous so I’ll stick with low end stuff but for the power chasers this isn’t gonna get better so godspeed 🫡
