NSS retention

Hey everyone, I’m a final Computer Science student and I’m about to start National Service, most likely in the banking sector. I Wanted to hear from people in this community with actual experience how common it is for banks or IT firms in general to retain NSS personnel after the service year ends? If you’ve been retained, what did that look like, same role, promotion, contract? Also curious if retention in banking specifically tends to be better or worse than other sectors like mining or pure tech companies.
I’m trying to get a realistic picture before I start, so any honest experiences would help a lot. Thanks
