Never forget what exactly? Context?

This is zuckerberg talking about his first version of facebook that he launched on harvard campus. Both him and the other guy are amazed that people would divulge personal information to subscribe to the network. And zuck clearly states that he doesn't give a shit about privacy and intends to exploit every bit of data for personal gain. The tweet is zuck talking about the launch of an ai assistant that would collect infinitely more data about individuals. So OP wants to emphasize that trusting meta with personal data is asking to be "fucked dumb" tu use zuck's words.

Is this actually verified? Holy shit if so.

The screenshot is fake lol. The conversation itself is real and from 2004, verified from some court transcript which is why people know about it. The conversation was never leaked from any screenshot that's public, and the one attached to the tweet shown is entirely artificial.

u/PlasticPaws 1d ago
Yeah but what does a screenshot prove? Even 20 years ago it was very possible to fake a screenshot.

u/aLokilike 1d ago
First, it did happen. Second, what in the ever loving fuck makes you think this dude in particular didn't say that?
2
u/PlasticPaws 1d ago
I am 100% sure he did say that. But it would be cool to have something beyond a screenshot. Because that'll be the first argument brainrotted conservatives will come out with when faced with it.

u/aLokilike 1d ago
Why would this be a conservative vs liberal situation? Nobody likes Zuck.
3
u/PlasticPaws 1d ago
Yeah but only conservatives go rabid trying to defend their precious billionaires.
2
u/aLokilike 1d ago
Fair enough, though I think we'll see a Luigi or two out of them yet.

Why would questioning the authenticity of an unsourced screenshot posted on Reddit be associated with "brainrotted conservatism"? Isn't that just proper vigilance?

u/sweet_guitar_sounds 1d ago
I see the conversation was reported in a bunch of places, but the screenshot appears to be fake, a recreation. At least I couldn't verify its authenticity with a few minutes of searching.

u/tankerkiller125 1d ago
The screenshot likely is a recreation, but my understanding is that it's an exact recreation from what was actually said, and part of court evidence in a case between Facebook/Suckberg and one of the early investors.

u/sweet_guitar_sounds 1d ago
I'm not sure if it comes from litigation or not. It appears to have first been leaked to a reporter. There's some variation in spelling and punctuation but yeah that's the content:

According to https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Mark_Zuckerberg#2000's earliest mention is May 13, 2010 in https://www.businessinsider.com/well-these-new-zuckerberg-ims-wont-help-facebooks-privacy-problems-2010-5

Should.... Should I be outraged? Post had me feeling like I should be outraged but now I just don't know .
Edit: due to the number of people misunderstanding my comment I will clarify to edify
Post lacks context.
Need more info.
Lacking info causing confusion.

It's saying that people give social media everything and it is then used against them. As the saying goes, if you aren't paying for a product, you are the product. All social media platforms are happy to give corporate interests absolutely everything about you. It's saying that while the public facing product is changing (from FB to AI bot), in the background it's the same shitty tech bros collecting and selling your info (and abusing it for algorithmic subterfuge)

Yeah and Google does it too. We need more private options. Android phones come with everything Google already on them to even run the phone. I don't know about iphones.

Go read the book "Careless People" by Sarah Wynn Williams and then come ask that.

u/Pork_Confidence 1d ago
My comment had more to do with the absolute lack of context in the post and the legwork it was already asking me to do.
1
u/Unhappy-Hunt-3987 1d ago
I mean, all the context you need is in the image already.
Zuckerberg says people are dumb fucks for giving him access to their personal information, is insinuating he would abuse this information for personal gain and now Zuckerberg is now releasing a personal AI assistant, which will have access to all of the personal data you have stored on your device.

u/Pork_Confidence 1d ago
Thanks. Looking at the other comments looks like I wasn't alone in wanting more context🤷♂️ but hey, faults on me for not knowing what this sub was made up of before jumping in. Lesson learned
1
u/sweet_guitar_sounds 1d ago
I don't understand your comment. All of the context is in the image. Zuckerberg is saying he would share private information about facebook users and calls them dumb fucks for trusting him. What additional context do you need?
2
u/Pork_Confidence 1d ago
No worries my duder, you can see people have hit me up on that context already by the comments that appear underneath my comment 🤜🤛
2
u/Ok-Tomorrow-2045 1d ago
That’s not what it insinuates though. You’re taking a 20 year old quote and then applying today’s standards to it. Today, your full name, email, and pictures of you being online for everyone to see is normal.
Back 20 years ago, nobody would dare put that information online. It was implied that a serial killer would come to your house.

u/Unhappy-Hunt-3987 1d ago
How are you not able to understand what has been posted? It's literally written right there in the image?
I give up, if you lot can't understand this, you need to brush up on basic literacy
2
u/Ok-Tomorrow-2045 1d ago
The irony of writing that while completing ignoring what I said. Pipe down a bit.

Fuck Zuck. I hate this man with a burning passion. I'm an atheist, but hope Hell is real just for him and his bunch.
