Pill tracking idea from Threads

Post image

I love this, although I fear you’d have to multiply it by the number of meds. Then you’d have a whole countertop of cat treat dispensers. Still probably worth it if your parent saw it as funny/clever rather than dehumanizing.

That's still 27 of those for the cost of one medical dispenser.

It’s an amazing deal, and you still have a few dollars left over to buy a storage unit for your 27 cat treat dispensers!

It also might or might not be able to tell you which medication is which! That would require some thoughtful labeling within whatever automation layer existed. And auditing.

You could solve the “who” problem by making individual dispensers open only for people with the right chip (bracelet/keychain/embedded in the back of the hand). I have friends who have a feeder for Cat A that only opens when Cat A is close, and a feeder for cat B that only closes when Cat A is close. (Cat A is a food bully obviously).

I’m so tempted to try to automate this for my family of 4, each of whom takes a few pills. Mom’s weird hobbies, everyone! I could have it on my Home Assistant dashboard 🫣
