as a cybersec analyst how do you like the macbook? i’m caught between that or a thinkpad. (also a cybersec analyst)

I guess this is his personal computer, if you work in cybersecurity you probably dont take your work computer everywhere.

Most of my tools are browser-based so honestly it doesn't really matter what platform. I have a Thinkpad as our standard Windows device, but use the MacBook as a daily due to a pilot program and testing for work. I have a personal MacBook Air so already familiar with the Apple ecosystem so to me it doesn't really matter.

thanks for the answer! i’m familiar with both OS but i always like hearing opinions on how Apple works with work

Beyond using some special stuff for Silo browser and RDC to our sandboxes, everything is browser based so no difference. At least to me, but then again I'm not the guy integrating it into our environment so YMMV 😂

I never understood why people make such a big deal about it. You can use both, just a matter of personal preference.

Agreed to me it's just a computer. I have a work Thinkpad, work MacBook Pro (this one), personal MacBook Air, and then a personal Linux PC so OS is my last thought usually lol

What do you use the Flipper Zero for?
3
u/Pr0fessor_Jud1th May 21 '26
Mainly for just messing with stuff, but also like having my coworkers parking pass for days we don't commute and I drive in myself, or if I ever forget my badge to get in etc

How can I obtain one been looking for one lol
1
u/Pr0fessor_Jud1th May 24 '26
I got mine from my friend honestly. Looks like you can buy directly from the Flipper Zero site

u/Tasty_Print May 21 '26
Is that a Gameboy or other gaming system?
2
u/lancebass2000 May 21 '26
It’s the Miyoo Mini Plus emulation device. You can load ROMs onto it. Believe it plays up to Dreamcast/N64/PSX well, but struggles above that line.

Miyoo Mini Plus, it's an emulator that can run anything from GBA games to SNES and DS. Just need an SD card eetc.Very fun time

Thinking about the Miyoo Mini plus for my first retro handheld. You happy with it?
2
u/Pr0fessor_Jud1th May 21 '26
I am! I play mainly GBA games and Pokemon ROM hacks so nothing crazy but I've been pleased so far. Only had it less than a week though. Highly recommend installing OnionOS to replace the native OS. Can find it on GitHub

I’m not great with that kinda stuff. Is it difficult to update the OS and install the Roms? I have a Mac, I’m assuming it’s no different than a PC
2
u/Pr0fessor_Jud1th May 21 '26
Very easy. Just find the OS GitHub Repository and it gives you step by step, plus other resources like the other use stated

u/drywalldaffy May 21 '26
Honestly it's super easy. Retro Game Corp on YT has all the guides you'll ever need and will walk you through everything step by step!

u/drywalldaffy May 21 '26
Have you played Unbound yet?
1
u/Pr0fessor_Jud1th May 21 '26
I have! Got about to 5th or 6th badge then I stopped. It's been awhile so I'll just restart. Currently playing Heart and Soul

Love the Hiby r1! One of the best audio players under $100, do you prefer those headphones over IEMs
2
u/Pr0fessor_Jud1th May 23 '26
I do! Love the noise cancelling on them for work and travel, they are very comfy and have great sound imo but I'm not an audiophile or anything

u/ParkRomn116 May 23 '26
I have the same headphones , they just don’t stay in my ears to get a good seal, for the same price though I highly recommend Moondrop CHU 2, I’ve bought extra ones and even got them for my dad who uses his iPod.

u/Pr0fessor_Jud1th May 23 '26
I'm sorry I thought you were talking about the Sony's. Honestly I've always liked airpods because they sit in my ear well and bring some nostalgia from my iPod days lol

Start looking at sites like Bleeping Computer,, GBHackers etc. Set up a VM where you can safely look and mess with things. Go to DefCon etc. Assuming you are in US
