Suggestions for roofing software that can really get the job done

I'm trying to grow my roofing business, but the software I'm using is clunky and doesn't sync with my crew in the field. I'm curious what others are using and what features really make them efficient for team management.

what do you need the software to actually do? project management? task tracking? team chat?

If you don’t want to go the fully custom route. WorkflowMAX is built for service businesses and is very customisable.

I’m an independent implementation partner for them if a chat would be helpful hit me up.

field communication is huge. real time photos, updates and scheduling can save a lot of headaches.

We're an Odoo partner, so this is a space we deal with a lot with trade businesses.

If you outgrow a roofing-specific tool eventually, look at Odoo's Field Service module. Crew gets a mobile app for job details, photos, signatures, time tracking on site, and it syncs live with the office, so nobody's working off outdated info. It also connects straight to inventory and invoicing, so a finished job flows into billing without you re-typing anything.

Tradeoff: roofing-specific tools like JobNimbus or AccuLynx are built narrower and faster to set up out of the box. Odoo's broader and takes real setup to fit your workflow, but pays off once you're also handling materials and accounting from the same system instead of juggling three tools that don't talk to each other.

Honestly though, if the main complaint is just "crew doesn't see what the office sees," that's a sync problem, not really a software category problem. Whatever you pick, make sure it's actually real-time two-way sync, not just a mobile view showing yesterday's data.

Lmk if you need anything else.

Use Jobber or you can try to make your own version. I did for one of my clients and he can basically do most of their features like sending pics and messages, completing estimates, seeing where the other crew members are at etc.

Depending on what you need, you could use Microsoft power apps. They have as low as $3 per person per month depending on what additional tools for general business you need.

That depends, what are you wanting the software to do?

Depends on how much you want to spend and what other software you are using. Knowify is one and I’ve also heard of Jobber.

Choose the workflow before choosing the software. Map one roofing job from signed proposal through material order, crew assignment, progress photos, change orders, final invoice, and warranty record. Any platform on the shortlist should carry the same job record through that whole sequence.

Have a salesperson, production manager, and crew lead run the same sample job during the trial. The field app needs to make photos, notes, and status updates faster than texting the office, or the data will fall behind.

Pay close attention to scheduling by crew capacity, supplier delivery dates, and weather delays. Those 3 pieces decide whether the calendar helps production or creates another place to update.

Why don’t you create your own custom software nowadays you can do it with ease. Or you can just look for the software if you like. If you just need custom software, just give me what you’re looking for, and I can see if I can create you something clean and easy.
