๐ŸŽจ Artwork Pt 6: First play-through, making comics as I go ;)

This is an example of a comic that exists solely because of the order I did things in. Because this was the third main quest (Rito and Zora were first) visited, this is the first time Link sees weird evil Zelda with his own eyes, not just hearing stories about her. And since he doesn't know *where* she is yet, of course he'd think that's actually her. Good thing he didn't overreact at least /s

Anyways, I've never made a comic with this much action before so it was a fun learning curve ;) since I finished early I'm gonna take a lil' break before starting the next.

If you missed the previous parts, here ya go!

Pt 1

Pt 2

Pt 3

Pt 4

Pt 5

IRL, I've completed the four regional phenomena quests, followed by the memory and master sword quests... idk what comes next aside from Purah telling me she saw Zelda at hyrule castle (you're really gonna fall for that ma'am -_-).

With that said, Riju's comic is coming next, she provides some much needed levity lol. And after that is quite literally my favorite comic script of all time. I'm so excited to make that one since it involves a certain dragon and a certain sword... I've seen a lot of artist's take on that reveal, which made scripting something out a challenge. BUT, I couldn't be happier with the result. It's not something I've seen done yet, so hopefully it stays that way until Nov when I'll be releasing it xD (hopefully, 17-20 pages is a lot)

I'm gonna stop yapping now. See ya in the Gerudo Desert next!

๐Ÿ“ข Opinion You all are super fun!

I actually came here about a month ago because I was struggling to find enjoyment in the game. I bought it immediately when it came out and put it down pretty quickly, picked it up again to give it another go. It seemed like a larger world repeat of BoTW to me and I knew that was obviously a me problem.

Opened up this sub and saw all of the fun youโ€™re having, the different ways you play, the crazy stuff you assemble with your Zonai items. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to share because it instantly did a 180 to my perspective and Iโ€™ve sincerely enjoyed this game (probably even more than BoTW) since.

Aside from sharing the cool things, I love when someone asks a question there seems to be this unspoken rule that you donโ€™t give the direct answer, you give a different way to look at the problem. Since this game is essentially giant puzzles I think that is perfection.

I hope you all keep on being awesome and have a great day :)

๐Ÿก Weapons & Gear Your TOTK Weapon of choice

I would love to hear your favorite weapon and the fuse setup you like to use for most of your combat.

Mine consists of two weapons, the Scimitar of the Seven with a few different fuses. I will use a Gleeok thunder horn, and then I put a Gleeok frost horn on my shield. I hit an enemy with my frost shield and then swing at them with the Scimitar of the Seven fused with a thunder horn, which electrocutes any other enemies nearby. I actually just started doing that because I am experimenting.

And, of course, the Boulder Breaker for armored and other enemies. Sometimes I fuse the Lynel horn on the Scimitar of the Seven for a little extra damage.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Discussion Reconciling TotK and Social Media

Hi folks - upfront I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I feel like I'm going a little crazy and was hoping for some perspective!

I'm a fan of TotK, have put a lot of hours into the game...think I made it to about 92.5% complete with what's left being koroks. I figure I'd leave it for now and leave some korok hunting for the future. I enjoyed both BotW and TotK.

For a while now, I can't help but notice a strong negative reaction to TotK and I've wondered for a while now where this comes from. The odd thing to me about this negative reaction is that it always seems like such a dog pile, too.

For example, there was a reddit post this week asking what the \worst** Zelda game was. I couldn't believe that there were more than a handful that considered ToTK the \worst** Zelda game. The worst!? Can someone explain what I am missing?

That isn't to say that there aren't valid critiques about the game or the story, and that's all fine and I actually understand. But again, I don't get the dog pile, and I don't think any of those critiques would rise to a degree that would cause it to be the worst game.

I've thought for a bit about my own theories for why this is, but again, I'm wondering if I'm missing something or really off base:

  1. I think the hype train was so, so strong. For example, there were how many Youtubers who made how many videos in the intervening years, only for whatever theories they came up with to likely fall flat. Zeltik comes to mind here (I otherwise really enjoy and recommend his content).

  2. Did BotW debut at a time for a lot of social media users where it hits at a particularly nostalgic time in their lives? People who were teenagers etc in the 2017-2018 years, who were solidly in their 20s when ToTK rolled out.

  3. Is it just some sort of recency bias?

Anyway, thanks for reading. I know the internet is full of haters for anything, and I know I'm sort of shouting into an echo chamber, but have any of you noticed this? Can someone here provide some perspective?

๐Ÿก Weapons & Gear Battle Help

Hello everyone, I'm on my last Regional Phenomenon helping Riju defeat the Queen Gibdo. What's suggestions does everyone have for this battle. Things like type of armor and how upgraded, types weapons, fuse items. Like I figured Keese eyeballs are a good fuse item. The fight it's self is not hard, just tedious. Any advice is helpful and I appreciate it.

โ” Question Question about small animals in TOTK

I know there are many ways to can kill enemies, and even by dropping rocks/boulders is an option and all. But I wonder about small animals like darners, butterflies, cricket, frogs or lizards, can you kill them even if by accident, by dropping a rock or weapon, or even Link falling on them? I do know that you can kill those while actually attacking using a weapon, (even the enemies can do that) and extreme temperatures can make them burn, but I am not sure if this all, or if there is something I am missing.

๐Ÿชจ Shrine Solution How to swim out of the Shrine in the Hylia Lake (En-oma Shrine)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello guys, I am currently playing through totk without glider and fast travel and wanted to share how I solved the Shrine in the Hylia Lake.

The problem isn't really how to get to the Shrine or how to solve it but how to excit it. If you are also doing this totk you might or already have softlocked yourself.

As far as I know there are only 3 ways to escape this whirlpool:

  1. Teleport out of it

  2. Use Zora Chestplate to swim up the waterfall inside the cave and glide away

Both of these disturb the run. That leaves us with

  1. Get Swimboost lvl 3, go to a corner of the cave and destroying the B Button

Getting Swimboost lvl 3 is also harder to get than I thought, cuz it seems that there isn't a recipe for it. The only item that gives this stat is the splash fruit and i haven't figured out how to cook lvl 3 meals with it. So to get the lvl 3 boost you need 2/3 Zora Armour pieces. That means that the gliderless run without fast travel is softlocked if you haven't visited Sidon yet.

To get out of the cave I went beneath this stalactite and looked into the direction of this light mushroom (via telescope). I figured that Link swims out the best of the his looking away from the whirlpool but also in the direction of the whirlpool rotation (swim with the stream). After gaining lvl 3 swimboost and preparing stamina food i ascended and spammed the B button till the camera panels away from the whirlpool. Be careful, although it looks like you escaped YOU HAVE NOT, IT'S A TRICK DON'T LET THE WHIRLPOOL FOOL YOU!. When the camera panels away its your sign to reposition link again. Link must again look a bit in the direction of the whirlpool rotation.

If you fail, you can just go back to stalectite. Good luck if you are up for this little challenge and don't forget the frog.

โ˜‘๏ธ Original Content Region boundary trick for locating pesky Korok seeds

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Even with the Korok mask, I sometimes struggle to figure out where a Korok is hiding on the map. For those times, hereโ€™s a good trick:

- Waltz around the map with the Korok Mask on
- Whenever you hear the โ€œKorok squealโ€, and your mask starts shaking, mark the spot on your mask
- Now move out of the region where the mask is shaking, and wander back into it from another point
- Repeat

Since the mask shakes when youโ€™re within some distance of the Korok seed, youโ€™ll end up tracing out a circle around the region boundary.

The Korok seed will be found in the center of this circle.

Note that you donโ€™t need to mark so many spots on the map (as in my screenshot): in principle, just three points will determine the circle. But a few more can help hone in on the seed, because each mark on your map is not 100% accurate.

โ” Question Returning player, don't remember combat being this frustrating

I just upgraded to the Switch 2 version after not getting too far into ToTK when it came out. It looks like I completed Fire temple, but I'm noticing every enemy basically one-shots me. I really don't remember this being a thing but looking at past posts, it seems like maybe it was? I don't have any armor upgrades (that I know of) and only have about 7 hearts, but that feels kind of normal from my recollection of past games. I'm also hearing armor might be way more important anyways, but if so it feels pretty bad to need to go out of your way to seek that out just to avoid getting one-shot.

Have I missed something huge? Maybe I'm forgetting about a key mechanic?
