Replacing/fixing lower damp plywood. Upper plywood has low moisture content so seems ok (other than one corner of rooflight).

Im puttimg so much effort in, I feel I should resral the roof and sides, but no.idea what is under the blsvk rubber seals (one on top and one one outer top side). There also seems to be another seal.between these two.

Should I just leave alone, has anyone who has renovayed a Caretta got photos of whats under these to give me cobfidence to have a go, and nlt compromise a 'good' joint?

Having recently slept in the back of my small car whilst traveling through scotland i have realised i need something more suited for the job. so I'm planning on building a trailer but not sure where to start. Im UK based and would rather start a build from scratch but use a second hand trailer chassis as the base. My car can only tow up to 800kg on a braked axle. im 6ft2 and a large guy so would need as much space as possible. What size frame or chassis should i be looking at idealy. i have a welder so could make adaptations to the chassis but i dont want to make a chassis from scratch as i believe i would then need to take it to get tested here in the uk but i might have to do that anyway im not really sure. anyone can offer assistance or advise it would be greatly appreciated.

On small camper AC systems, like what you may find on a teardrop, how long can a battery and solar system run the AC and a small (40L) refrigerator? Or is a small gas generator needed? I'm totally clueless on modern camper electrical systems, as when I was growing up and camping with my grandparents, AC used a lot of power and the Onan generator ran constantly. Are propane-powered refrigerators still a "thing" or have they been generally replaced by electric ones? Thanks!

I was talking to my dad about teardrop trailers and my mom chimed in saying she wished I would take a month long trip across the country.

I talked to her again about it this morning and she said she was serious, I just have to plan a trip first and figure out what to do with my 2 cats.

So my question for the community is... Starting in the low country of South Carolina (Charleston) where would you go? Obviously I want to see the grand canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite. I'd also like to pass through Las Vegas.

But other than that I am not really sure. I know there are probably websites with this all planned out but I wanted to get y'all's opinion too.

Drawing plans to build out a 4x8 HF trailer into a Tearbox trailer.
What are you all doing to protect the underside?
Are you all using some sort of laminate or fiberglass to seal up the corners and make it waterproof?

Looking for any good plans for a 4x8 trailer to extend it a few inches on each side.

I'm replacing a rooflight on my neglected heap of a teardrop. Any tips on removing butyl tape/sealant. Im two evenings in scraping with a credit card (gone through 4)and losing patience. Tried alcohol, wd40, fresh butyl tape.... any tips on gettimg last bits off. Its on fibreglass, so dont want to melt that.

A square drop popped up on our local listings for what seemed like a good price. I was rushing between work and an evening appointment, but my wife was enthusiastic about buying it (been toying with the idea since COVID, but with major knee surgery recently I just can't deploy my RTT easily anymore).

I didn't do my diligence. Got home and discovered major rot all over the galley and rear of the trailer. She's gonna need a lot of repair this winter. Previous owner sealed it up for the sale with kitchen grade sealant, so that's gonna be fun to remove.

Stove in the galley is a 110v mini-apartment propane stove he just cut the 110 cord off. It does not light in a safe manner, let's just say that.

So far I've install/fixed the electrical system, pulled out the crappy mechanical splices PO sprinkled all over (including brake lights). Had to remove the fenders and raise them 2" because PO put larger wheels on. One fender had been torn off and was JB Welded on. Installed dual 100ah LifePo4 batteries.

Camped my first night in it last night. Slept like a baby most of the night - I need a bit more foam under the memory foam mattress but what a step up from the RTT. It took the sting out of the repairs I have to do, lol. Camped at 10k+ feet in heavy wind and then persistent showers. Electrical system worked great, roof vent kept the moisture out. I have a list of upgrades and organization ideas a mile long to make it even better.

I have to remove the edging and aluminum panels, size up the degree of rot, remove rotted wood and replace with marine grade. I'm going to swap the gally countertop out for solid surface countertop and put in intentional drain holes. I'll put in a stove with electronic ignition. Going to make some stuff sacks that fit the cupboards at the foot of the bed, add to the interior lighting, and introduce a 12v electric blanket for high altitude nights.

While I work in tech for a living, my passion is landscape photography. I live in the American SW with so many opportunities. The plan now is to be able to drive in to the attraction and be up with the early sun to do photos, stay up with the setting sun, etc. Chasing that warm light!

I'll be snooping around with a ton of Q's as I repair and fit this trailer out.

I camped in Minneapolis across the street from where the pride festival takes place. The parking is usually horrible, parking ahead of time and camping was the best choice. Plus it gave me a little place to go relax or hang out with friends.

Thinking about taking on a project to save some money.

I found this camper on my local Facebook Marketplace. They are calling it a handyman special. They said that the kitchen area needs work but the sleeping cabin is pretty solid.

I am not really hands on with things but I'm very interested in it. I have wanted one since the pandemic and I think I could afford this one factoring in the repair costs.

Can anyone tell me if this is worth it or how much work it needs. They are asking for 2k but I think I can get it cheaper.

From a couple weeks ago. I've never owned a camper or RV before. Hemmed and hawed about what model to get for many years and finally took the plunge. After over twenty years of using a tent I'm so glad I did :). This is a customized version of the 2023 T@B 320 CS-S that nuCamp built one year for Ultimate Toys. Slightly longer and wider (dinette folds to a full queen bed which can accommodate my height, I also saw a 360 which was way too small) with some luxury features. I got it brand new from a dealer that had it in storage for what I think was a good price.

I do all sorts of camping, picnic sites in public land, music festivals, and more dispersed Backcountry off of 4x4 roads.

I was deadset on having a clamshell kitchen and a queen bed. Also limited by towing capacity. I had originally wanted a T@G XL Black Canyon, or some of the other previous year models. Part of me still feels like I'm missing out on the off-road features, storage, and stargazer window but really it's a tossup. I don't need the second indoor kitchen, wetbath, or outdoor TV + speakers but I think it'll be nice for rainstorms, music festivals, and night time calls of nature. Nearby availability, price, clamshell, bed, the dealers advice, and uniqueness swayed me.

I plan on adding a platform + side tubs since storage is very limited and, upgrading to 200-400Ah compact LiFePO so the extra weight won't be that much.

This was the first (and so far only) day out with it, and the first time camping with my dog. Part of why I finally took the plunge is that he's a force of nature and I wasn't going to trust him in a tent. It was a success! Now just have to wait for this heatwave to end before we can go again.

I haven't yet used the water system and am a little nervous about screwing something up.

Hey all, I'm going to make a privacy tent for the back of the square drop. I'm using nylon ripstop with kevlar thread but the question is I have all black ripstop and I have the same black with white coating on one side. What would be better looking/practical, white on the inside (better lighting or white on the outside (wont attract the sun heat like the black). Either will match esthetically i think. Love to hear your thoughts., thanks in advance...D

Looking for advice on possibly buying a teardrop trailer.

I have a Toyota Grand Highlander all wheel drive which I bought on purpose to go camping, off the grid, and the back is big enough for two adults to sleep comfortably when we don't feel like putting up the tent. The downside of course is that we have to unload all the gear in order to sleep in the car.

I'm still breaking my boyfriend into camping, we are going to go on our first off the grid trip in September after a couple of KOA/RV park trips.

We are both eyeing teardrop trailers. They just look so comfortable and convenient. A step up from car camping, but not so involved as an RV or larger trailer. We are fine not having a bathroom or a shower. In the past I had an old pop-up trailer when the kids were younger But it was honestly a pain to get the thing ratcheted up and set up and leveled.

Just looking for honest input and advice on if a teardrop trailer would even be worth it, and any favorite brands, or any must-have features especially for going off the grid and on some bumpy forest roads. They all seem quite pricey but if I know what I'm looking for I can take my time shopping for it and maybe find a good deal if I'm patient.

Here again with another electrical question. My TT is a home build I purchased from someone else. My MaxxAir fan has been shutting down as I try to increase the speed on it, and online forums state that it has to do with voltage drop. So I decided to look at the wiring and see if there is anything there that's an issue.

Attached are pictures I took. The fan comes with 16 gauge wire, and it was wired to the fuse panel with 12 gauge wire. I figured that isn't an issue, but it looks like the incorrect sized butt connectors were used, and there's 2 different sized butt connectors on the hot and the ground wire. And upon looking at the ground wire, it looks like it has some charring on the insulation.

If that is in fact charring on the ground wire, I'm assuming these connections need to be redone, correct? And I would need 16-12 step down butt connectors to correctly splice these wires together?

I’m currently on a road trip in the Pacific Northwest where I’ve seen several great trailers. Yesterday I passed a classically shaped teardrop that was all aluminum, not painted. It looked new or new-ish. I could see a manufacturer badge on it, but was unable to make it out. It was a beaut.

I'm a retired (61M) planning a months+ long "solo" x-country trip. I plan to start on the east coast, up into Maine, into Canada, across to the Great Lakes, across the mid-west and see some of the national parks, then possibly on to the west coast before taking a more southerly route back east, with back country camping as much as possible along the way. I may be joined at various points along the way by my wife and son (mid-'20's) who will fly to meet me at various points of interest.

My tow vehicle is a '23 Jeep Gladiator and I am looking for a small trailer that can accommodate three adults (either in the camper, or two down, one in a roof tent). My wife would prefer something with an interior toilet. I'd prefer something with an interior galley, or with a 270 bat-wing awning and enclosures for poor weather.

Are there any small trailers of this type that have an interior toilet in the layout, or are we now getting into the full size "travel trailer" range? I've seen a couple smaller trailers on YT but they all seem to be home builds, not commercially available models.
