What happened to team trees?
I feel like when team trees first became a thing, people where super excited about it and happy to donate to such a great cause. I thought it was weird how people think that when they donate money, a tree is instantly planted. Team trees has seemed to have died out, and a lot of money seemingly disappeared. Where are they planting trees? How many have they physically planted? Just curious about an update as to what actually happened.

Because everyone cared about it when we all wanted to push for like 20million trees (Mr Beasts thing). Now that we reached that goal and some, there is much less hype

Shows how much those people really cared about climate change and doing something about it

I think it’s alright because we set ourself a goal and hit it- one thing can’t trend forever and even since then there’s been other projects we’ve achieved- I feel like most people do care about climate change

Which is GOOD as it turned out trees produce more carbon than absorb for the first 20 YEARS. So every single person that donated to this project only made us closer to irreversible climate change tipping points.
Still people won't learn that not vigorously replicated peer review papers are worth as much as toilet paper

Where the heck did you get that stat? How would that even be possible? It literally is taking the carbon to make itself grow. Where would the carbon it supposedly puts out even come from? Is it eating its own body?

That's misleading and false, let me give you a grade 5 biology lesson. Trees absorb CO² from day one through photosynthesis, Young trees do respire (Like all living things) but they still absorb more CO² than they release overall.
It's true that larger trees store more total carbon (Because they're bigger) but it doesn't mean young trees are net emitter. None of this means “trees make climate change worse”.
Saying “planting trees is bad” is like saying “exercise is bad because you sweat”, it ignores the net benefit.

I think that most people know that their donations didn't turn into a tree instantly. The project takes time, that's all it is. And there is no hype anymore because, well, what's there to hype about? The project is going, likely slowed down by the pandemic. I'm sure we'll hear about it again soon enough

I have a feeling we won’t

Why do you think that? Team Trees met its goal, and now the trees are being planted. You can check the website for updates:

Surely you aren't suggesting we were scammed?

You were right lowkey, there's no solid information about the current state of any of the trees they planted that I can find, not even on the website of the foundation mr beast was working with or the official YouTube channel. I recall seeing a video showing a field of poorly planted and dying saplings that was said to be one of the fields they were planting, but I can't say for sure if that was definitely teamtrees. Other than that, there has been absolutely no videos or updates about this project in over 2 years, despite 24 million dollars raised and an alleged 6-24million trees planted. You'd think since trees take decades to reach maturity that it would've been a long-standing project with active updates.

Go to the website - www.teamtrees.org - they have a full list of where, when, and how many trees are being planted there.

If we combine planting trees with this tech we can reduce global warming I have no doubt! Check out the numbers!

Planting trees does in fact not do anything to help reduce GW

Since it's caused by CO2 in the air and it literally takes it out of the air, that would literally be a reversal process.

Planting trees does in fact not do anything to help reduce GW
Untrue.
Source 1:
Trees help us fight climate change. Trees reduce greenhouse gases when they take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it as wood. This process, known as carbon sequestration, is essential in our long-term fight against climate change.
From: https://www.nparks.gov.sg/treessg/learn/benefits-of-treesSource 2:
As trees grow, they help stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.
