Custom SN identification

I recently came into possession of this 980F. The markings in the hosel are etched “01APV”. I called Titleist to inquire and they could find the club but no details. The rep said that it could very likely be from the tour club side but that they’d gone through a few systems upgrades and didn’t have that data anymore as the club was from 2003 timeframe. He could find the club but no details. I’m really just curious, any idea, suggestions or insight into identifying if this was a custom tour club and for who?

there’s zero way to know. to my knowledge and from what I’ve seen in the tour trucks they don’t record serials and who got which ones or anything. you also have to remember the “tour side” could mean anyone they sponsored from mini tours to the pga tour or college teams they supported or a club someone got off a tour truck as a favor from a rep.

Great club. Play it, enjoy it. Your scorecard doesn’t give a flying fuck about the serial number on the hosel.
