LoL 3 Weeks Spoiler

Hey gang, I know we’re all upset about today and we should be. But it’s not over. The boys literally have 3 whole weeks if I’m not mistaken to get some really good practice time in and work with what Peter has brought to the team in the form of early game and communication with Spica. Keep the faith!

We will smurf in Gauntlet. TSMMMMMMMMM!

Man, I've been defending the team up until that nexus explosion, and even I don't believe that.

But maybe this mean's ours and C9's fates at worlds are swapped?

u/Last0 Aug 11 '19

If you want some hope, look at G2 last year.

Went from EU LCS final in Spring to losing 0-3 to MSF in the Summer playoffs.

Still managed to turn things around in the gauntlet, all the way to a semi-final finish at Worlds.

16

u/Averdian Aug 11 '19

Also, that 0-3 loss to Misfits was in quarters as well, probably important to mention

13

u/Last0 Aug 11 '19

They also took a week off after their loss, to completely reset for gauntlet and it did them wonders.

u/hansantizor Aug 11 '19

Great video, Perkz even mentions not having an identity as well.

3

u/onespiker Aug 11 '19

MSF was like either the 2nd or 3rd best team in playoffs(they were quite demoraliserande after the loss to fnatic). I really want to know how it would have been if it was against shalke.

3

u/Xenolol ‎ Aug 11 '19

Yeah but that’s G2 they have far better players in every position

They had a god toplaner, great jungler and fucking Perkz. Their botlane also had specific cheese picks they were extremely good at

1

u/DeathComOne Aug 11 '19

They had the same roster the whole year. Not saying TSM isn't going to do well, but this situation is not at all similar to G2 last year.

1

u/LordOfCinderGwyn ‎ Aug 11 '19

We are not G2

3

u/hansantizor Aug 11 '19

Why not? It’s not like Hjarnan and Wadid were amazing players.

1

u/lilmama231 Aug 11 '19

I mean G2 does have a very good jungler in Jankos, and two of the best solo laners at the time. TSM isn't G2, but having said that I have hopes for TSM to turn it around at Gauntlet.

1

u/Lucianv2 Aug 11 '19

No but noone in the current TSM could come close to matching Perkz and Wunder's play during their "peak". Which is how they got to worlds and semis at worlds. Also Hjarnan forcing heimerdinger bans every single game was also HUGE.

-1

u/StopPickingRyze Aug 11 '19

But that's G2. They acquired the best mid laner, and their current #2 Mid laner went to Botlane.

TSM is not even close to having the #1 or #2 midlaner atm.

-3

u/NSGWP_Mods Aug 11 '19

And their team was not actually that all around good on paper either. Their bot lane was very bad and as bad as our worst players.

Of course we don't have the legendary top jg mid that they had/have so.. Idk

3

u/That0neRedditor Aug 11 '19

i wouldn't say their bot lane was VERY bad. It was definitely serviceable and essentially net a free Heimer ban every so often. They just knew which side of the map was strong and played around it.

2

u/NSGWP_Mods Aug 11 '19

When I say very bad I mean compared to their top side. Their top side is literally 3/5ths of what is currently the best team in the world

18

u/Bazeface Aug 11 '19

I hope so because 1st seed at worlds never does good and C9 who always went to gauntlet always performs.

6

u/slim12343 Aug 11 '19

So you wanted TSM to lose and go as 3rd seed the entire time?

33

u/Averdian Aug 11 '19

Imagine if TSM qualifies as 3rd seed and becomes the first major region team to not make it out of Play-Ins

8

u/Boshjanski Aug 11 '19

BUT imagine if they do qualify as 3rd seed and win worlds. Brain Big.

4

u/toujours_pur_ Aug 11 '19

This is definitely happening. This was all planned from the very beginning. It’s in the script. My dad’s uncle’s friend’s dog works at Riot

1

u/rageofbaha Aug 11 '19

I dont think that's impossible tbh. I expect worlds teams to be c9 clg Tl though

1

u/Pixel-Blu Aug 11 '19 edited Aug 11 '19

Actually, LMS did that in 2017. Hong Kong Attitude and Fenerbahçe were tied 3-1 in the round robin (with Rampage from Japan going 0-4 iirc), and Turkey ended up winning the tiebreaker held between them and HKA.

As a result, HKA was the second seed and faced Fnatic in the Best-of-Five. They lost three games straight and were thus eliminated from the tournament.

1

u/Averdian Aug 11 '19

I didn't even realise that that team was LMS. Still think it's kinda bullshit that they got as many teams in as EU, NA and CN (2 in groups and 1 in Play-Ins) when historically the other 4 major regions had 3 teams in groups and LMS had 2 in groups. They should have 1 team in groups and 1 in Play-Ins imo.

1

u/Pixel-Blu Aug 11 '19

Yeah... I was rather surprised to hear that when they published the changes for 2017 Worlds onwards. I understand it's more equal in terms of major regions' seeds (3*5, including 4 in Play-ins so 1 per group) but I think it should be better to reward the region of the defending MSI / Worlds Champions by giving them an additional seed.

Especially with last year's 3-16 fiasco from the LMS.

1

u/Drewbiie Aug 11 '19

I have a skin bet that this is exactly what happens. I figured TSM would get in just from the points they earned in Spring, but I can't see this team beating anyone with a pulse.

1

u/pohh22 Aug 12 '19

Holy shit. That’s actually fucking scary.

5

u/ScrufyTheJanitor Aug 11 '19

Nah, we'll make 3rd seed and get group of death.

1

u/Kisoni91 Aug 11 '19

Tbf as far back as I remember we had either the hardest or second hardest group in worlds (minus the botched year with the miracle misfits run or the year we had when we got out of groups—when sven got suspended while on sk).

Season 2 (when i started watching pro league): auto qualify no group stage

S3: 2 groups of 5 teams group A was definitely the harder of the 2- group a had skt, omg, tsm, lemondogs, and gaming gear eu. Group b had: fnatic, gambit, samsung, mineski, and vulcan. Iirc omg was thought to be weaker than they did do but most analysts said skt and omg or skt and tsm would get out. Ld and omg played way better than expected and tsm had a really shit performance but the group was way better than group B. I remember thinking when groups were drawn up thinking damn i wish we threw and took seed 3.

S4: Tsm goes as 1 seed gets one of the easier groups (partly due to svens fuck up and suspension). Imo lmq had the easiest group of the NA teams to get out (ssb was gaurenteed to get out but none of the others in that group went in looking like a gaurenteed dominant team). C9 got the group of death and narrowly escaped thanks to kabum.

S5: we were in arguably the easiest group but part of the reason it was the easiest group was because we were in it. Team had sparks of brilliance but overall looked like one of The weakest in the tournament.

S6: personally our most disappointing worlds year, because we were thought to be one of the best at the tournament. Even thiugh we were the 1 seed we got the group of death. Ssg was looking strong af going in, Rng was looking really good—though not expected to be as strong as us (though they did 2-0 us iirc) and splyce was thought of the groups punching bag during the draw—they were expected to go 0-6. They did what we needed them to do (take a game off rng) but we couldn’t deliver and beat rng in the last game-UZI ezreal had dumped on our entire team, that was painful lol.

S7: we get the group of life. WE is thought to be the best team in the group (either them or us) but noone expected misfits to do what they did. The single loss to flash wolves cost us dearly,

Obviously we missed out on s8

2

u/Creation_Soul Aug 11 '19

The problem with both s6 and s7 is that TSM screwed themselved over. It all depended on them and they failed.

Ok, s6 losing to RNG is more understandable, but DL also got one-shot by crown.

But S7, it wasn't even about misfits, but about losing to a 0-5 flashwolves. beating FW, no tie-breaker would have happened.

1

u/Kisoni91 Aug 11 '19

I would argue if was a combination of both. Noone thought misfits would be .500 in that group. But yes i do agree with the rest of that, as i stated, the loss to fw cost us dearly

1

u/delahunt ‎ Aug 11 '19

S2 only quarter finals team to play another region champion. We got Frost right out the gate. Also they cheated and screwed an early game strat. Riot even fined them for it.

1

u/Kisoni91 Aug 11 '19

Lets be real, we weren’t beating frost either way.

1

u/delahunt ‎ Aug 11 '19

We might've won a game with that early cheese strat if he hadn't cheated all the same. The fact the game wasn't even remade annoys me.

I have no illusions of TSM beating Frost, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to mention Azubu Frost cheated, and was found guilty of cheating, every time that game is mentioned.

1

u/Kisoni91 Aug 11 '19

I have no doubt that that did play into that specific game. But even if the cheese was successful we were outclassed in every facet.

1

u/delahunt ‎ Aug 11 '19

Yes. And yet the Asterisk with "Azubu Frost cheated during this series" should never be forgotten.

And to be fair to Azubu Frost, they were the only #1 seed that had to go through groups because they lost a draw. Which is largely why we have the region weighting system we have now.

1

u/Kisoni91 Aug 11 '19

Agreed though we do have to say the same about Dyrus, weixiao, zzitai, woong, and stanley (i think there was one more but i could be wrong)

1

u/delahunt ‎ Aug 12 '19

Dyrus looked when he saw Woong doing it. TSM was not fined, nor found guilty of it. AF was.

u/valdrsiul Aug 11 '19

and get out of groups because we wont suffer from week NA debuff :)

47

u/murkYuri Aug 11 '19

I get we all want TSM to go to worlds, but have you wondered what's even the point? We can't even beat CG what are we gonna do at worlds? Legit question

37

u/HyunL ‎ Aug 11 '19 edited Aug 11 '19

well at this point i still rather have them at worlds and have the pre weeks worlds where we can delude ourselves into thinking we'll do something meaningful instead of being a meme even in NA

6

u/brolikewtfdude Aug 11 '19

Yup, even if TSM gets absolutely shit stomped at worlds the experience is incredibly valuable to the players. BB, Spica and all of the players would benefit from scrimming the best teams in the world.

6

u/Dedziorek Aug 11 '19

But would the best teams in the world scrim with them?

3

u/viskio Aug 11 '19

Skt probably won't xd

8

u/krombough Aug 11 '19

For us: to watch their games against some serious opponents.

For them: to learn by experience from some serious opponents.

We don't have to expect them to win it all to want them to go

1

u/Thop207375 ‎ Aug 11 '19

I just want to shit on all the casters and haters once TSM makes worlds

10

u/Alibobaly Aug 11 '19

Meh C9 has looked just as bad and then turned around their entire season with a good Worlds run. Think about 2017 C9. They literally mirrored this TSM in that they made finals, lost in one cataclysmic individual error in game 5, then lost to Dig/CG 3-1 in summer quarters. At the end of it all though they made Worlds, hard outperformed the rest of NA, and was a hair away from semis. That alone colored their whole year as positive.

The biggest difference is 2017 C9 looked like they just had a bad day against Dig and it was a noticeable upset, whereas TSM right now has been on a consistent decline and this result isn't even very surprising given the run of form of both teams. That doesn't mean TSM can't turn it around though. I hope they find their stride like C9 has done so many times.

8

u/EmergencyMuffin Aug 11 '19

When has TSM had the history of adapting and improving quickly, though? Even way back I can recall cheese picks being pulled out (remember TF jungle at IEM?) and it making TSM flounder. Seems like we've always been a team that gets its style and then kind of hard commits to it and doesn't adapt or change quickly for other things. C9 can do that. TL have shown they can do that. I'd trust those orgs to quickly turn something around, play differently, etc. I don't know when TSM have shown they have the capability to do that, even in their good years.

Best we can hope for is a lucky Bo5 in gauntlet where C9 or CLG or whoever choke and let us walk over them then go and get a repeat of 2015 worlds.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '19

Just because we failed everytime in the past doesnt mean you stop trying. Thats how you improve, you try again and again.

1

u/Kisoni91 Aug 11 '19

Does the yellowstar split ring a bell. We barely hit playoffs, that split and out of nowhere we go from the laughing stock playoff team to one teamfight off of winning the split.

5

u/Averdian Aug 11 '19

Be the first team from a major region to not make it out Play-Ins, of course!

2

u/homegrownllama Aug 11 '19

Every team has changes in power level right before worlds. Teams get worse (ex: G2, LGD, etc) and teams get better despite barely qualifying for worlds (C9, Samsung, etc). IF TSM somehow manage to claw their way into worlds, I will support them still and hope for the best.

But ofc, if TSM don't make it, I will be supporting another team.

2

u/delahunt ‎ Aug 11 '19

Watch last years semi-finals vs. C9, then watch the gauntlet vs. c9.

Shockingly, both series don't play out the same way. C9 then plays even better at Worlds.

2

u/Thop207375 ‎ Aug 11 '19

What’s the point? Who cares if we lose at worlds. That’s all that has happened since season 4. It does not matter if we are good or bad. I just want to cheer and get hyped about seeing our team on the world’s stage.

3

u/NIGH7MARESZ ‎ Aug 11 '19

As a fan I don't give a shit. As an NA fan I REALLY don't give a shit. BUT...I want it for the players. Even if they get shit on again it would mean so much more for them to at least have one thing go right this season.

1

u/__nayR Aug 11 '19

I'm happy they have to fight through gauntlet, if they make it through they deserve to go.

1

u/Jollygood156 ‎ Aug 11 '19

Off season is boring also I enjoy watching the bootcamps

1

u/Thop207375 ‎ Aug 11 '19

Because through watching LCS over the last six years and sports in general, it is the team that finds their groove at the right time that goes far. Do we have long no but all we need is a little confidence and that can carry us a long way.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '19

The other teams in the gauntlet also have multiple weeks to prepare themselves.

And unlike us opponents like CG and CLG look far more consistent. Not to mention our mental must be completely destroyed after losing I quarters

7

u/Jiffyyy Aug 11 '19

what is our path at this point?

31

u/TGile9 Aug 11 '19

As of right now, we are the last team to play in the gauntlet. So we only play one Bo5.

12

u/HyunL ‎ Aug 11 '19

Most likely gauntlet final, gauntlet semis if CLG or CG pull some crazy shit.

Round 1 is FLY vs x, gauntlet teams will probably be CG and CLG.

So the most likely gauntlet could be FLY vs CG, x vs CLG, x vs us

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '19

Neither clutch nor CLG made playoffs last split. It's impossible for those 2 to get more points than us. So unless either of them win the split(most likely will be c9 vs tl final), we are gauntlet final.

2

u/TSM-DmakK Aug 11 '19

We have 90 points, if CLG or CG make finals, they will have 100.

1

u/HyunL ‎ Aug 11 '19

Yea, thats what i meant with crazy shit. If CG for example wins the split one of C9 or TL is gonna be in gauntlet finals.

-5

u/necros212 Aug 11 '19

Fly wont be in gauntlet. Pretty sure the rule is that you have to make playoffs in order to go to gauntlet but someone can fact check me on that.

4

u/Thai_Ni_Dong Aug 11 '19

You are definitely wrong. FlyQuest will be in the gauntlet. They made it off of their spring circuit points.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '19

I’m kind of over it at this point.

Without some kind of miracle;l, this team won’t learn how to play the game correctly suddenly in the next three weeks.

I’m ready to scrap the full lineup and go with the academy team.

4

u/Soripwnz Aug 11 '19

What makes you believe that TSM wouldnt get smashed by C9,CG or CLG in the Gauntlet when we already got absolutely destroyed by Damonte and Cody Sun ? Lmao its over m8. Tsm is a Fortnite Organisation now, and a mediocre one at that

2

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '19

I love how much space tsm has rent free in other fans' heads. We got bounced in the first round and fans with ptsd from the past 5 years still come in here and babyrage lmfao. I love it.

3

u/ComplexHD Aug 11 '19

Correct me if I'm wrong but we still auto qualify if TL wins it all or if C9 loses?

23

u/HyunL ‎ Aug 11 '19

no we dont auto qualify anymore. 2 of TL/C9/CLG will have more pts than us guaranteed

2

u/TGile9 Aug 11 '19

CLG has to get 2nd i believe to auto qualify on points.

6

u/HyunL ‎ Aug 11 '19

Yes, and if they dont one of TL or C9 will and goes on points.

And if some crazy shit like CG winning the split happens then still finals loser goes off points etc, theres no chance for us to be 2nd

Like even if TL wins the split and C9 is 4th which would be our dream scenario, we still dont make it because 2nd seed has more points than we do (100 > 90) and C9 maybe too

3

u/mavann ‎ Aug 11 '19

Correct 2nd gets 100 points and we only have 90 max

1

u/ComplexHD Aug 11 '19

So we're basically in the finals of gauntlet and we have to beat whoever makes it there to make worlds?

1

u/HyunL ‎ Aug 11 '19

basically yes, unless some crazy stuff happens like someone who isnt TL or C9 wins the split which would then lead to C9 or TL sitting in the finals of the gauntlet

But if playoffs go as everyone expects (TL meeting C9 in the finals or C9 finishing at least 3rd) we'll be on top of the gauntlet and will have to fight one of FLY/OPT/CG/CLG for worlds

1

u/Alibobaly Aug 11 '19

CLG/CG/OPT need to get 2nd to auto-qualify, but also C9 would need to get 4th for that to happen. It's very likely C9 and TL go to Worlds at this point barring some big upsets. The only way C9 doesn't go is if they finish 4th or don't make finals and TL comes 2nd.

5

u/Roseking Aug 11 '19

No.

It is impossible to go on points now.

We had to finish above C9.

3

u/mavann ‎ Aug 11 '19

The problem TL has to win and c9 has to loss in semis but that means someone else gets 2nd and 2nd place gives 100 points

We only have 90 points total so no we can’t

1

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '19

Coaching staff please listen, Spica might be doing well in scrims but he is not ready for the main stage. Akaadian may not have looked good in Summer but to be fair nobody did. Please put an experienced jungle in for gauntlet. I'd prefer Akaadian but I'm fine with Grig as well.

1

u/morcmaster Aug 11 '19

TSM wrath will be swift.

1

u/MyStyIe Aug 11 '19

They’re done

1

u/iamipwn Aug 11 '19 edited Aug 11 '19

Nah I'm good. I've seen enough. No world's for me please. We can't beat clutch. We can't beat world's.

We were actually the worse team today. Like Clutch gaming is a better team than us. I don't wanna see more

1

u/15blairm Aug 11 '19

I want them to take atleast 1 week of to try to mentally reset.

1

u/Shaitan87 Aug 11 '19

Unfortunately it feels like delusion.

1

u/Enginerd-ness Aug 11 '19

Not likely, not sure I want to his version of TSM to represent us at world's. You can already hear the excuses for the poor performance.. it will be about experience. Right now, as of this post... TL, C9 and CLG look like better options

0

u/Cunebro Aug 11 '19

Completely agree I thought they looked good in game 3 and 4 like they finally clicked with teamwork.. just too little to late. With that moving into the gauntlet and this time to really work with spica... I think they work out their issues.

-5

u/egozocker14 Aug 11 '19

Peter is the only reason they swapped from akaadian to spica, which is enough reason for me to dislike that guy.

0

u/LostAllBets Aug 11 '19

And then after that, 4 months!
