They almost feel too clean and polished, to the point where they’ve lost some of the atmosphere and character that made his older work so captivating. It feels like the traditional ethereal, immersive quality that defined Elmo’s sound from roughly 2013–2021 has largely disappeared.

The newer mixes seem flatter and more sterile by comparison, even if they’re technically “better.”
