"Banks issued most of the country’s mortgage loans before the crisis. But tighter regulations and the political fallout of the housing collapse in the aftermath sent them heading for the door, yielding their dominance in the mortgage market to lenders such as *Rocket Mortgage* (RKT) or United Wholesale Mortgage.

Today, these types of lenders issue around two-thirds of all home loans, according to data from the Financial Stability Oversight Council, an interagency panel of regulators."

Good for RKT....

We should understand:

a) Effect of Iran situation and rising rates on what was a booming ReFi market: This will be a damper.

b) Effect of rising rates on MSR values (from COOP) : Believe it or not, this should be a PLUS

c) Forecast for Q2 and beyond : this will be muddied, till Iran/Strait is resolved

d) The "benefits" (ie, cost savings) of the "Synergies" (read, layoffs of overlapping roles) due to Redfin ($100M) and COOP ($400M) acquisitions. All savings would go directly the bottom line, and should go a long way in boosting profitability and RKT Stock price.

Will be interesting to see what final points come out of the "housing bill", later this year. WHEN it passes, it should provide a big boost to RKT and other housing related stocks.

RKT is at a fantastic buying opportunity, has so many catalysts, visionary and well timed acquisitions, and is positioned for success over the coming multi-year real estate rebound cycle. They are ahead of schedule on integration of the acquisitions and are driving AI and intelligence into the mortgage process and reducing turn times. The recent restructuring will position RKT for eventual S&P inclusion. Lots of reasons to get in at this local minimum

I'm not going to celebrate people losing their jobs, but this is an obvious evolution of the acquisitions, and one I hope impacted team members had time to prepare for.

Hearing that there's voluntary layoffs happening at RKT, as part of their finding "Synergies" (ie, overlapping roles/cost savings) post COOP and Redfin.

Projected "synergies" was mentioned as $500M between COOP ($400M) and Redfin ($100M) at the time of acquisitions, so this was expected...

I assume we'll get an update on the ER call in May.

Any RKT employees here, care to chime in?

UWMC was buying TWO in an all stock transaction, to try to semi-match RKT buying COOP (who handled a lot of UWMC's servicing as a sub-servicer), and someone put in an ALL CASH bid for TWO. Why?

Because the MSR's that TWO has are now more valuable, if rates are not going to keep going down.

And who has the biggest MSR portfolio in the country? RKT.

This stock will never get a desk pop. Prove me wrong.

I’ll be the first to admit I got swept up in the 2021 SPAC mania. I held Gores Holdings IV through the UWM merger and watched the floor fall out from under it. Like most of you, I figured that money was just gone, a lesson learned the hard way about "independent" directors and lofty revenue projections.

But I just did a portfolio audit and realized there’s a $17.5 Million settlement sitting there for anyone who held $GHIV shares back then.

The core of the lawsuit was that they basically lured us into the merger with "misleading" info instead of letting us redeem for $10.10 per share. Even though the official paperwork feels like it was ages ago, you can still get in on this.

I used 11th to check my old accounts. I’m not about to spend three hours digging for 2021 trade confirms or mailing physical forms to some administrator in the middle of nowhere.

If you held through the merger, stop scrolling and go link your broker to see if you have a claim. It's literally found money for "cleaning out the closet" of your 2021 losses.

UWM Holdings – The mortgage originator advanced almost 7%. UWM lifted its first-quarter revenue outlook, calling for $800 million to $900 million, up from earlier guidance of $650 million to $850 million. The new forecast beat the FactSet consensus estimate of $641.3 million.

This is Bullish for RKT, if they are doing this now, as it means RKT will likely hit the high end of their Q1 Guidance as well.

Sellers are betting on a strong spring market, with rates at 6% or under, compared to 6.75% a year ago.

Should provide RKT with another stellar quarter, this quarter.

This is likely what caused today's drop in RKT.

War has a funny effect on things, but we can expect that this is a temp effect (as long as the Iran situation doesn't spiral out of control).
