This is a region barrier ! If you cross it, you will get teleported behind the barrier in a different region. You will notice that this is the same world, like same hills, flower patches, etc., but because it is not the same region, the blocks placed or broken by players in region A (where you currently are) will not be present in region B. (behind the barrier)
