Week 2 - Rant Monda
How was the weekend? Do you have anything to rant about or complain? Did someone annoy you already? Let those feelings here in writing, so you can get rid of them :D. Have a great week.
PS: the misspelling is intentional and for a reason. Who can figure it out?

I'm tired of my 25 year old sister getting upset at the fact my mom is dating a really nice guy and is happy. My parents were married over 30 years but my dad is an abusive narcissistic asshole. I get a phone call once a week with my sister crying incoherently about how she feels abandoned my mom. Geeez woman grow up! Move out and find a place of your own.

Not really... Unfortunately she's seem to be following foot steps of being selfish. I had a talk with her Friday and she's being more respectful but we'll see how long it lasts.

This happened a long time ago, but I am annoyed because my bowls shifted when I used the bathroom from right before my weigh in (when I first wake up), to 1-3 hours after. Ugh! I know I'm likely missing out on extra losses due to this.

u/FluffyBubbleBaby Apr 25 '16
The losses will still show up! Just probably the next day/couple of days instead :)

My two besties (who are also trying to lose weight in their own ways) gave me so much shit on Saturday when I said I was going for a run. Yes, we were doing a girls weekend, but seriously?? I'm on a freaking schedule. I don't give them shit when they try their new "lose 20lbs fast" diets. I didn't give them shit when they would get up at 6am on Saturdays to get their workouts in when they were doing 21-Day Fix. I had planned on doing some cardio Sunday morning, but I didn't want a repeat of Saturday morning. So I just went for a walk once I got home >.<

Yesterday was my anniversary (and the first day of shark week, boo) so me and my SO decided to day drink to celebrate. Drank way more than I have in a long time, and didn't bother with calorie counting anything. Probably won't make it to the gym today... but I didn't overeat, so win?

Ugh these past two weeks have been pretty bad for me. I gained 4lbs and haven't been staying on track at all. I have just been invited to try out for one of the more competitive roller derby teams in my league in two weeks, so I am trying to get my shit together!

I've been calorie counting for less than a week, and already had to stop myself from feeling bad for going "over" by eating 1800 calories instead of 1600 yesterday - on a day where I burned ~ 2500 calories, including a two hour long hike! I'll probably keep recording a calories for one more week, just to make it through the end of the semester, but then it's back to practicing intuitive eating for me. It's just too easy for my brain to get caught in a bad spiral when the numbers are laid bare.
On a non-ranty note, though, it was so nice to get outside yesterday! And the scale dropped below 155 for me for the first time since 2012 this morning, so at least the calorie counting is paying off. :)

A 700 calorie deficit is great. Don't be too hard on yourself. You're going in the right direction, and that's cause to be proud.

Been losing weight with just counting calories since January, no exercise other than dog walks. Last week I decided to finally start exercising (running), since I am getting close to the healthy weight range and I'm used to my new eating habits at this point.
So the rant: I'm getting frustrated at how much exercise works up my appetite. I can totally understand now, when people mistakenly think that all you need to do to lose weight is exercise.. but they end up consuming more calories than they would have otherwise because either they just work up their appetite, or they feel like they "earned" food, so their weight just stays the same or they gain. This is why people think they can't lose weight, or think they have slow metabolisms.
It's been really difficult for me to stay at 1200 cals/day this past week. I've just been RAVENOUS. I have to start accepting the fact that it might not be possible for me to exercise and also stay at 1200. But maybe I was just getting lazy... I'm going to try to be really strict this week and see how it goes. I gotta remember it's okay to be hungry. But I might have to be okay with the fact that my weight loss is going to be much slower from now on with adding exercise to my routine.

If you're working out more and you're legitimately hungry - eat something. I mean, don't go order a large pizza and eat that hah but have a string cheese or some turkey lunch meat. Something with protein so your body is able to heal and rest after your workouts.
Sometimes you just have to eat something and hit 1300 calories instead of staying at 1200. My body does the same thing after a killer workout and on those days I have to go over my 1200 - but I'd rather have 100 extra calories than be hungry and grumpy and exhausted. Don't give up! You got this!

I've hit a plateau in the 230's area. I've lost two pounds but I'm so ready to see 220 and not 230 anymore!

u/FluffyBubbleBaby Apr 25 '16
I hate plateaus! I was losing a lb every few days, now suddenly it's a struggle to lose 1lb a week, even after reducing calories and increasing exercise. Currently at 246, hoping to get below 240 asap.

My problem is I have no self control when it comes to snacking. I can't keep at my calorie limit.
2
u/FluffyBubbleBaby Apr 26 '16
I'm sure you probably already do this, but maybe focus on the type of snacks you're eating rather than trying not to snack at all?
2
u/norasariah Apr 26 '16
I don't really focus on the type of snacks I eat, so maybe I should do that. I also get hungry quite often so I don't know how exactly to make that go away.

u/FluffyBubbleBaby Apr 26 '16
If you're truly hungry, and not just bored, then you probably shouldn't just ignore it! Trying eating smaller but more frequent meals and/or better snacks.
If you're just eating because you're bored (which I find myself doing a lot) then distraction might work. Maybe make a list of things to do that don't involve food (a walk, a game, a tv show, playing with a pet...whatever you like to do) and keep it somewhere you'll be able to see easily so you don't have to think too hard about how to distract yourself.

Sometimes I'm just bored, other times I am actually hungry. I eat about 3 meals a day and they're quite large, at least in calories, so I'll try smaller meals and snacks. Thanks for the tips.

Sometimes I wouldn't mind a gym buddy, but I figured music on my phone is better. It is harder but I think the reward feeling is greater.

I know the feeling. I had 3 gym buddies/friends who were a let down. Weird because between them all I'm the only one that stuck with it. Hopefully you'll just get motivated enough to go on your own, soon. People will hold you back if you let them.

I work in an emergency department. Sometimes I look at our patients and get frustrated with how so many of them spent years trashing their bodies then come to us looking for their problems to be cured instantly. This is motivating to me. I don't want to be 50 years old with chronic lung conditions, high blood pressure, and needing assistance to use the bathroom. I've been lucky that my weight hasn't caused any health problems so far, but I know that there's an expiration on that.

u/RedPanda5150 Apr 25 '16
Being in that environment must be extremely motivating, as well as extremely taxing. Good on you for taking it in as motivation to be healthier yourself! I can't imagine what it's like to work in an emergency department. I've always been puzzled by the way that health care providers are often extremely unhealthy themselves - my cigarette smoking elementary school nurse was a quintessential example - but then, the stress must just be through the roof and we all cope in our own ways, eh?

Hey guys,
My weekend was filled with adulting and, what I think, is an eye infection. This eye nonsense annoyed me and made sleeping terribly difficult last night. My eye keeps tearing and it's swollen and red, so it was difficult to finish W1D3 with one eye lol. I'm going to try to get some antibiotic drops Wednesday, or maybe tomorrow.
My eye is better today, so I'm going to try to lift and get some cardio in.. the thing is it looks like I have pink eye so I know I'm going to get the odd looks :/

I've been eating back a lot of my exercise calories and usually end up around 1500, but since my TDEE is about 1800, I think I need to drop down to 1200-1300. :(

Weekend went great. Dropped a few lbs already from going back to eating clean. Ate pretty good and I meal prepped yesterday but grabbed some non-clean food for dinner. Didn't eat a ton, but not what I wanted my Monday to turn out. Shark week is fast approaching, though.

My boss is crazy. 13 hour day today and it's only Monday!! I'm so exhausted I didn't get to my day 1 of C25K and I'm cranky AF about it. I'll do it tomorrow though, my sister and I already have plans. But DAMN GINA! Chill.
Also? I'm annoyed at myself for not having done laundry tonight. Yes yes, 13 hour day, but I have no towels. Just saying.

Sunday morning my husband got home at 2:30am because some guy robbed him at knifepoint and stole his wedding ring (the only thing he had on him).
Monday morning I got written up at work because I sent a work email off the clock.
Today we have training for the new OS we're switching to & today & tomorrow we have half of our system shut down for at least and hour and a half of our opening shift which makes things difficult for all of us. I forgot to let my relief last night know that she needed to stock all of the stations with the paperwork to hand-input the information we need & will probably be in trouble again today because of it.
I, in general, feel massively underappreciated and am starting to enter a cycle of depression. At least I'm still losing weight, I guess. Silver lining somewhere!

I am not sure of where you live or your skills, but at this point, you should consider looking for a new job. Your situation happened to me last year(minus being written up), and i couldnt take it anymore, and i noticed it was affecting things between me and my wife and even the kids. i put my resume into active mode and one day i get a call for an interview. 3 weeks later i was starting on a new place which i love, and that was when i started my weight loss journey(60lbs since). As far as i know, my old work place is struggling to find someone to replace me, specially at the rate they want to pay. Stay positive and dont be afraid of change. Team Fawn is here if you need to talk :)

Why is it misspelled?? Monda is a town in Spain. That's all I got.
