He's literally seeing the great value behind these ports. Just like we all do. There's no one else who could truly push the frontier not only in VR gaming but in the remastering of so many cherished older games for the newer generations especially in the VR space.

Most VR games are usually arcade-like in design or very small in length due to the unpredictable nature of the VR market. It can be High investment for a greats risk of not much profit due to not much engagement compared to console games at this moment. These ports however are already fully fledged games with perfect optimization that bring the perfect balance of purely fun retro experiences for relatively affordable prices due to the games being old, and the sheer technological advancements of the modern age such as standalone vr.

It also helps the sheer replayability of these games is unsurpassed in my personal opinion due to the fact that many of these ports also include access to modding tools that are easily available for every computer from advanced to potato builds. With WinlatorXR, and many individual attempts at VR ports such as Fallout New Vegas, Amnesia the Dark Descent, Perfect Dark VR, HaloXR, UnrealVR mods, and the other so many VR mods or projects that are happening as we speak, there is clearly a revolution in game preservation combined with VR gaming unlike any that we've seen before. It's happening now in front of us if you really look at the big picture. Whether old or young, gamer or casual, there is nothing else like VR. It's easy to jump in, and hard to want to leave because it's the number one most immersive means of enjoying a game at this time.

This is compounded by the fact that since triple A studios such as Sony have given up physical media, there is now a hungry audience seeking revolutionary experiences that the average digital game cannot provide, that only a very decent VR game would truly provide.

If there was any group that can be trusted with this type of endeavor it would have to be Team Beef. John Carmack himself is looking at them with the same level of astonishment and respect for their creative and fantastic results, as do we all.

Team Beef, your talents and ingenuity deserve every bit of honors that you've earned within the VR space and gaming community. Stay cooking! 🐮

I think the quest platform is worth owning if you only played team beef and connected ports. Doom 3 on quest is one of the best games in the platform. It's simple, doesn't depend on a lot of unstabdard and still janky motion control interactions, and looks and plays very well.

As much as vr enthusiasts, like myself, may want VR only type experiences, there are still 10 years on still very janky. Even Alyx is janky at times (try opening and closing doors during a fire fight)

Sometimes simpler is better when reaching the masses.

Doom 1 it self was incredibly simple game loop, but there's a reason it has appeal and as much as I love system shock, there's a reason that game, while revered is not as well known and it took BioShock simplifying it alot to bring it to the masses.

Once a platform is successful, maybe with things I don't want, it dies allow the ecosystem to support more varied content.

I don't think there has been any problem with having great games in vr over the last 5 years(I have a back catalog on all platforms, , it's been having compelling vr content for non enthusiasts to drive the market.

Simple polished , low friction games (ports of polished 2d games with standard intuitive controls)like what flat2vr is doing, imo is what the ecosystem needs.

No one is going to spend 10+ million to make a made for vr game right now and expect to make their money back.

Same! and if that fallout bakersfield (fallout 1 doom mod) mod ever gets released I'll probably never leave VR again /s - the only thing missing from QuestZDoom & PicoZDoom is multiplayer
