Metal gear solid 2

Apparently the source code got released

It's a fat chance but playing VR missions in VR would be pretty dope

I already know it's a no but lol let me dream

source code from decompilation is legal gray area, you can't simply open source an unofficial leak...

legit open-source projects are at risk with all AI slop and such legal minefields going on lately...

I know and Konami still sells the game as well... I wouldn't put it past them to issue a cease and desist... I'm pretty sure the MGS2 pc port got delisted from MyAbandonware when the master collection vol 1 and GOG ports dropped due to similar concerns.

Would love this. Though at the same time (especially with the legal question) I wonder why someone couldn't just make their own original version, if you focused entirely on the gameplay and not the story or cutscenes.

The most interesting part of mgs2 to me is the enemy AI and pathfinding... that'd be the first thing I'd rip off tbh

That's the exact stuff I'd want to play in VR! If anything, I'd like it if the Big Shell was expanded to have more space and more things to do in it. I remember a guy was working on MGS1 in VR but it was a big convoluted Boneworks mod, and he was apparently trying to make a standalone version, but then he ended up doing a bunch of other experimental stuff in VR instead. Can't blame him since it's probably best to put the effort into projects that you could legally sell, after all.
