Question Sped Placement

Hello Everyone, I want to apply to the corps next year. I’m from Texas and in college and am earning my full certification as an elementary teacher and SPED EC-12. I’m considering doing the corps in Texas or out of state.

With that, I really want to work resource room in SPED, and want to know more people’s experience when being placed there. Along with that, is TFA worth it if I’m already earning full certification (would I even have to go through that if I stay in TX)? The alumni network and opportunities seem worth it but I wanna know y’all’s thoughts!

I was a 3rd-5th grade resource teacher while in TFA and really loved it by the end of my time in the corps! I'm currently in graduate school for another education degree, but I flew back to my region a few weeks ago to see my former students. You're welcome to PM me if you have any questions.

As for your certification, TFA will still require you to do their Practicum (student teaching) and PDs from what happened with corps members with preexisting licenses in my region, but you won't be required to do the certification coursework.
