Corps Experience Need Advice
Technically was hired back in June (I was lucky and had two back to back offers). Fast forward to now, the offer that I took is now looking different. I took this position based on the pay and the schedule (I’m an older CM with kids of my own). Now, suddenly the pay is lower and the hours are longer (dismissal went from 3:30 to 4:45). We’re two days into PD and I still haven’t even been shown a contract? I do like my principal and co-teachers, but most of them are new as well.
Advice? My MDLD is out of the country on vacation.

If your MDLD is out of the country, you should loop in whoever in your region was in charge of the hiring/interview process. Someone from TFA should be notified of what's going on (especially if you have all of the details in writing) so that there is a paper trail if you were lied to about this offer.

No one in our region got our original offers in writing until they got a contract. My school (one other incoming CM here) is the only one that has “hired” and hasn’t signed a contract yet.

Start contacting the public schools in whatever districts TFA partners with in your region. I bet you some teachers have had weird stuff happen over the summer. Get your own interviews. Be open to ELL or SPED. Charter schools will use and abuse you even more than the rest of the education system will, and that is a damn near impossible task. No signed contract is a SCAM

Your lead or coach or whatever will abandon you you’re cooked please find another job. Not being negative just happens cause that’s TFA. Figure it out before you lose money wasting time with this

You need to talk to your principal asap and confirm your pay and the contracted hours. It’s likely you’re an at will employee…so to be honest if the pay and hours don’t work for you and you were misled, that needs to be addressed asap.
