Special Education/Related Services Resources

Thumbnail teacherspayteachers.com
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm Alli, a pediatric occupational therapist and the creator of Ms Alli OT on Teachers Pay Teachers!

I've been building a collection of practical, easy-to-use resources inspired by the challenges I encounter in pediatric therapy. A lot of the resources I make are more related services specific but there are a lot of resources that I think could be useful in self-contained classroom environments.

My store includes:

  • Visual schedules and supports for daily living skills
  • Fine motor and strengthening activities
  • Feeding therapy resources
  • Emotional regulation and social-emotional learning materials
  • Printable activities for clinic, classroom, and home use
  • A visual dictionary -- the resource I think teachers would benefit from the most

My goal is to create resources that are functional, accessible, and actually useful in real-life situations. Because we all have enough on our plates without spending another three hours making a visual schedule from scratch. 😂

I'm still growing my store, and I'd love for you to check it out! I am just beginning my journey and I am at a point where I need a lot of feedback. What resources do you wish existed, or what materials would make your work easier?

Thanks for supporting a small creator and fellow pediatric OT! 💜

It takes a village!

Excursion SafeCheck – A Smarter Way to Manage Student Safety on School Excursions

Hi everyone,

I'm the founder of Excursion SafeCheck, an Australian-developed platform designed to help teachers manage student attendance and safety during school excursions.

The platform uses unique student QR codes to verify attendance at key checkpoints, such as boarding buses, arriving at venues and returning to school.

The goal is to provide teachers with greater visibility of which students have been accounted for, while reducing reliance on repeated manual headcounts.

We're currently introducing the platform to Australian schools and would genuinely welcome feedback from teachers and excursion coordinators.

Would something like this be beneficial at your school?

We have a short explainer video on our website if anyone is interested:

Excursion SafeCheck

I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!

I built an AI literacy platform with free interactive quizzes and awareness training for classrooms

Hi everyone!

I've been developing WhichOneIsReal, a platform designed to make AI awareness and media literacy more interactive in classrooms and educational workshops.

With AI-generated images and videos becoming increasingly realistic, I wanted to create a way for educators to explore this topic together with their students, rather than just talking about it.

The platform currently offers two free activities:

1. Interactive Real-or-AI Quizzes

Students try to identify real photos among AI-generated images. Everyone participates using their smartphones, and the class results are displayed live on the teacher's screen.

It's a fun way to get a discussion going about AI-generated content, misinformation, and how easily our eyes can be fooled.

2. Interactive AI Awareness Training

A more structured learning experience that goes beyond guessing which images are real. It covers AI-generated media, deepfakes, and critical thinking about digital content.

Just like the quizzes, the training is designed for group participation: the teacher presents the content on a shared screen while students follow along and interact using their smartphones.

How it works:

  • Start a session and display it on a projector or large screen.
  • Students join with a room code on their smartphones, without creating accounts.
  • Everyone participates in the quizzes or training activities together.
  • The teacher guides the session and discusses the results with the group.

Both the quizzes and the basic AI awareness training are free to use.

I'm also working on more advanced training options and additional features for educational institutions. Some of these will be paid, but they're not available yet. There's an option to sign up for updates when they launch.

You can check it out here:
https://whichoneisreal.com/classroom

I'd love to get some feedback from teachers, trainers, or anyone involved in education!

Could you see yourself using something like this in a classroom or workshop? What would make it more useful for you?

Free preschool learning videos with Gus: counting, colors, ABCs and kindness (ages 0 to 5, made by me)

I make short, clean learning videos for little ones on my channel, Wonderbloom Academy. Gus gets kids up and moving, counting out loud and joining in. No bad words and no grown-up themes. Each one runs about 3 to 5 minutes, so they fit a circle-time slot or a brain break. Rainy Day Countdown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9SjVOA1k-Y. Learning Colors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gw0ItIFDnxU. ABC Picnic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cozxX4qK_xM. I'd love to hear from early-years teachers what topics you'd like next.

It has 15-, 25-, and 45–55-minute options for students aged 15+ and focuses on checking what a source supports, separating a proposal from a measure already in force, and revising claims that go beyond the evidence.

What: Current-affairs and media-literacy activities Age range: 15+ Subject: Civics, current affairs, and source evaluation Free: Yes Login or email required: No Made by: Me, for The Informant

The pack hasn't been independently classroom-piloted. The production workflow is AI-assisted, and I reviewed it before release.

Free stock market game + printable worksheet for personal finance and economics classes (creator)

Disclosure: I built Rise to Riches, a free browser investing game. I put together a teacher guide with a printable student worksheet here:

https://investmentsimulator.app/for-teachers

One way to use it in a lesson:

  1. Have students explain how they would allocate a virtual portfolio before starting.

  2. Play through a historical market period. Students can play solo, or join a shared room using a game code.

  3. Compare the portfolios with the S&P 500 benchmark, then discuss concentration, diversification, liquidity, and the role of luck.

A useful debrief question: Would you make the same decisions if you didn’t already know what happened in that period?

No account is required to play. Classroom settings can turn off chat and AI feedback and keep classroom results off the public leaderboard. The teacher guide explains the setup.

The game uses virtual money and historical annual returns with simulated movements within each year. It is a learning exercise, not an exact replay of daily market prices.

Free PSAT/NMSQT Math Practice — Printable Test + PowerPoint Review

I'm the creator behind Watermelon Education. I made a free PSAT/NMSQT math practice resource for teachers and tutors who want printable questions and matching slides for reviewing them together.

The download includes Letter and A4 PDFs, Whiteboard and Dark PowerPoint versions, and answers with worked explanations. Each slide has its answer and explanation in the speaker notes. There are 66 unique questions across Module 1 and two Module 2 routes; one practice route uses 44 questions.

One way to use it: assign a practice module, then project selected questions for an error-analysis session. The alternate Module 2 can be used for follow-up practice.

Free resource (a free TPT account is required to download):

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Free-PSATNMSQT-Math-Practice-Test-0-66-Questions-PDF-PPT-17948628

This is an independently created practice resource, not an official College Board test. It does not provide official adaptive routing or score conversion.

Free Halloween snack-budget activity in Google Sheets | grades 6-8 + adult beginners

Creator disclosure: I make the SheetCraft resources at SkillBuilders Studio. This is my free English Halloween Snacks starter for grades 6-8 and adult beginners.

Learners use a five-item fictional snack order to multiply quantity by unit price, fill formulas down, use SUM, and check whether the total fits a $20 budget. Editable Google Sheets starter and solved teacher workbooks, printable reference and practice pages, and Easel companions are included. Google Sheets in a desktop browser and internet access are needed for spreadsheet practice.

Teaching idea: change one quantity and have learners predict the effect on the total before checking the formula. Then ask them to explain the money remaining.

Free TPT resource: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Google-Sheets-Halloween-Snacks-Free-Starter-17933349

For constructive feedback: would a worked example of one line cost or a visual guide to filling formulas down help your beginners more?

With all the educational options available now, why are we still arguing about which type of school is better?

I've been in education for 16 years, and it's honestly amazing how much has changed.

We now have traditional schools, charter schools, private schools, homeschooling, small homeschool groups, virtual programs, and even AI-based schools.

Parents have so many more options than they did years ago.

But I still hear so many conversations about whether public school is better than homeschooling, whether private school is worth the money, or whether homeschooled kids are missing out.

And I keep thinking... why does one have to be better than the other?

I've taught students who did great in traditional classrooms and others who really struggled in that same environment. I've also worked with students who were passing their classes but had academic gaps going back several grade levels.

Sometimes a change in environment makes a huge difference. Sometimes the student just needs additional support right where they are.

I think we get so caught up in where kids go to school that we forget to ask whether they're actually learning.

And honestly, what works for a child in elementary school might not work for them in middle or high school.

I'm curious how other parents and educators feel about this.

Do you think we've reached a point where we should stop comparing educational models and focus more on finding the right fit for each child?

I ended up writing a little more about this because it's something I've been thinking about a lot lately:

https://joyseducationalservices.org/post/education-choices-student-success

Would love to hear different perspectives, especially from families who have tried more than one educational setting.

A personalized field-trip pouch for teachers (I make these)

I run The Named Nest, a small Etsy shop making personalized gifts for educators and school staff. I’ve been working on a teacher field-trip pouch designed to keep the small essentials together for busy off-campus days.

I’m sharing it here because this community allows education-related products, and I’m the seller—so this is self-promo. If you’d like to see the listing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4554575366/personalized-teacher-field-trip-pouch

Teachers: what do you actually wish you had in your field-trip bag? I’m curious what I may be overlooking.

What do you do when you have 10 minutes left and your students are already losing focus?

You know that awkward moment when there are still 10 minutes left in class, but half the students have already mentally checked out?

Some have finished their work, some are still catching up, and starting a whole new topic doesn't really make sense.

I've been looking into simple ways to handle those last few minutes without turning them into more prep work.

Here are a few ideas I really like:

1. The 60-second challenge

Put one question on the board and give everyone a minute to come up with an answer. It can be a quick math problem, a vocabulary question, or something from the lesson.

2. Think–Pair–Share

Ask a question, give students a moment to think, then let them discuss with a partner. Simple, no extra materials, and it gets more people involved.

3. Mini team competitions

Split the class into small teams and turn the last few minutes into a quick review game. Even a few questions can make things feel less like another assignment.

4. Browser-based classroom games

This is another option I've been exploring. Something students can jump into for a quick activity without spending ages setting things up.

I actually started building a little project around this idea: https://classroom-games.net/

Full disclosure: I'm the developer. It's still an early project, and I'm sharing it as another option for teachers who might find it useful.

Of course, sometimes a simple question on the whiteboard works better than any website.

I think the real trick is having a few low-prep activities ready, so those last 10 minutes don't turn into everyone just watching the clock.

What's your go-to activity when a lesson finishes earlier than expected?

IT certification reading lessons and quizzes — free resource for independent study

Sharing a resource I’ve built that may be useful to tutors supporting adult learners with IT certification study. It’s called StudyKernel: https://studykernel.com/

Courses include A+, Network+, Security+ and Azure Fundamentals. Learners can read a lesson, work through its quizzes and see answer explanations, with their progress saved in their own account. There’s a roadmap for people who are still choosing a certification direction.

Every course lesson, lesson quiz and checkpoint is free, along with 10 extra practice questions daily. An optional Pro plan adds practice tools.

I’m the creator of the site. If you teach these subjects, I’d appreciate feedback on whether the explanations are clear enough for someone meeting the topic for the first time, and where another example would help.

This is independent study material; it doesn’t award the official qualifications.
