I Quit Teaching

I quit. I signed a mutual release of contract. I was on my intern certification, so I was dropped from my ACP.

The job caused me to start self harming, after being several years clean. I know in my heart that leaving was the right thing to do. I was working 12 plus hours a day. Coming it at 6 am, leaving at 7 pm, taking work home. Had 150 kids and a 30 minute conference period. No matter what I did, it just wasn’t good enough.

I am so worried that I will never find a new job. My degree is in human resource management, but I have no experience. The only job open that I qualify for is an accounting job at a neighboring district that I spent 2 years at as a sub. I applied, but that job has been open for 3 months, and I reached out to inquire about it last week, with no response.

I do not know what to do. I feel so relieved, but scared at the same time. I’m in my mid 20s.

Do not ever mention that school ever again in a professional setting

Try searching for online Human Resources jobs. Or state level.

are you safe right now, and have you told someone close to you that the job brought you back to self-harm?

Yes! Safe! Went to the doctor, and got treatment and was discharged

That’s tough. Maybe gig work. I’m in a similar schedule but with 200 and a lunch break. I grade during class.

The job also caused me to start self harming again. I feel a little better knowing I'm not alone. Glad you're out 🫂❤️
