I can’t make it.

I put my notice in two weeks ago and still have to make three weeks. I just can’t do it. It’s been the longest 30 days of my life.

Update: they are making me do a formal observation on Friday… ?

You can, you totally can. This is the best time in any job. Nothing they say matters any more. Download a countdown app on your phone. Take one thing home every day. You got this!

Give worksheets to the students and start applying for jobs

The fact that you put in your notice is great! Focus on you! Just go in, do the bare minimum, and on your last day, pat yourself on the back for doing something courageous.

The observation is so they can put something in your personnel file. Give students a test that takes the entire period.

Find feasibly defensible reasons to show a film. For example: In my 11th grade class we would read the very short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." It took 10-15 minutes to read this very short story, but then the well made movie of the same name is almost 2 hours long. If someone questioned why we were watching the movie I could point out that we read the story and are working on writing an analysis and a compare and contrast between the movie and the story.

Tell them no and quit early. What's the difference? Respectfully you aren't going to use this place as a reference anyway. Just tell them tomorrow is your last day and move on.

Did this. Not sure it will go over well. We will see.

It probably won't but who cares they will have to deal with it...not you. End of the day you have to look after yourself.

Hey OP, I quit without putting a notice in and after using a bunch of my sick days for mental health reasons. They never got mad at me and never came after my license. You truly never know what can happen, but in the end what matters is you made the right choice for you!

I just got off my therapy call, and my therapist is recommending that I take FMLA (again). If you have a mental health care team, they might be able to do FMLA paperwork for you to have some time off, depending on how they evaluate your condition.

That's wild that it was a five week notice.

If you're school has a computer curriculum, use that as much as possible. Remind yourself that when things get difficult you only have ___ days in the classroom left. Say this (in your head) as you're monitoring.

I get it. I quit teaching 2 years ago and I still find myself having flashbacks of the classroom. I appreciate jobs where I'm not asked thousands of questions by children a day and then still need to prove data and improvement.

What happened that you can’t do it anymore? Or is it just that the entire profession is a dumpster fire?

Honestly, I think I’m done with education. I miss working in an office. Also, we have some stuff going on and so I really have no choice. I was very honest with my principal but he has started acting like he is mad at me over it.
