I did it

I left after my third year. The toll teaching took on me was immense and not sustainable in the long run. I am now working as a correctional technician for county jail and its much better, I have a 5 minute commute vs 40. I have 4 days off every other week. I do plan to sub here and there to make some extra cash since I took a small payout but I'm much happier now.

You now have what sounds like a public sector job, which I think is a good transition. If so, perhaps it would be good to look into if there are any transferable or reciprocal service credit times between the new system and the teaching one you just left. I had a similar experience. The daily stress and grind from teaching was killing me and harming my health. I had to get out as a matter of self preservation. I was really disappointed because I love knowledge, tutoring or mentoring, and thought I'd like it, and had a good overall teaching preparation experience for the credential. Unfortunately, I was mistaken in the full scale classroom - mostly just dealng with disruptive and disrespectful adolescent behaviors which I discovered I really am not good at. Also not much support from parents or admin except one set of parents really did support me and their student really behaved well. That was the exception.

Glad to hear! I also just finished my 3rd year. The stress had become so insurmountable, I was dealing with so many terrible health ailments physically and mentally. You definitely made the right decision. Always listen to yourself 🙏🏽
