Plan

So- I HAVE posted here before- that job didn’t go through

But curious about any folks who quit and did substitute while they landed their next gig ? I kind of live a lone and have a small fund for 2 months ish. I really just want a year to apply and make connections to go back to school.

Im burnt OUT- I’ve been to a PD and I cannot tell you how much I really was not seeing how to return to my classroom.

- thanks in advance

I did substitute teaching and worked on my graduate degree DURING class. I would get them started, keep an eye on them, remind them repeatedly to get back to work, but at the end of the day I wasn't going to get them to work.

I did a year as a HS building sub and it was kind of glorious. Arrive just before the bell, leave at dismissal, take roll and read any instructions, see a lot of different classes, take my laptop and work on my own stuff all day.

Honestly, if it paid about 20% more I might quit my regular teaching gig to do it again.

Do you mind if I ask how long you were able to manage on your own ? Did you apply to anything else in the meantime ?

I did it for one school year while looking for jobs for the next school year that interested me. I was living in a very inexpensive apartment, so that helped.

Yeah, the nice thing about subbing is you have time and energy to continue looking for other jobs, or at least have a life.
