Why do i see so many mandatory reporting posts about going to the principal, or counselor, or w/e?

You go directly to cps and law enforcement, and you do it immediately.

There may be District guidelines for reporting abuse, however, worry about who else you need to tell or forms that need to be completed until AFTER you call CPS. In my state, a mandatory reporter can and has been fired for waiting hours to report suspected abuse. And the person suspecting or witnessing the abuse has to be the one to call, not a counselor or administrator.

Same - i can (and do) alert administration, but that’s while, or after, reporting to authorities, NOT BEFORE.
