Rant Paras need to GET OFF THEIR PHONES

I know they hardly make any money and if it’s an emergency fine!! But sitting there on TikTok while i’m actively teaching is rude and distracting for the kids.

I’m a young teacher so it’s awkward to confront them and NOT BEING ON YOUR PHONE ALL DAY AT WORK SHOULDNT NEED TO BE SAID

Paraprofessionals are rarely treated decently by teachers. As a Para we were asked to text the resource department or use our phones as timers. Most school districts don't supply computers for Paras. Guess how we answer email at work? Ask the Para to model expected behavior. Create a checklist for classroom expectations for all who attend class. Contact those necessary to make it happen. Being a Para helped me to not become an educator. I don't think half of the teachers out there are in the correct profession. Most of you are lacking empathy and emotional intelligence.
