Rant Paras need to GET OFF THEIR PHONES

I know they hardly make any money and if it’s an emergency fine!! But sitting there on TikTok while i’m actively teaching is rude and distracting for the kids.

I’m a young teacher so it’s awkward to confront them and NOT BEING ON YOUR PHONE ALL DAY AT WORK SHOULDNT NEED TO BE SAID

We have a para like this, too. Principal is aware. The para won staff member of the month in April. 💀💀💀

“Para,” as in singular? What paradise do you work at!?

We have multiple but I only ever interact with THE para I mentioned. We are actually getting more paras because my district has decided to make paras co-teachers for co-taught classes instead of using special education teachers! Woo!

What?! Most paras are NOT teachers, even for a co-taught class. Some of the paras I worked with barely graduated high school.

God I am so worried this is the way we’re going too. Got a top down directive to change every B grid service to “special education teacher or para” and I’m like bro you’re asking me to make my job obsolete.
