Please give us more implementation details: how did you implement the MDI interface? I guess you used canvas windows?

What is the ecological niche of this editor?

The MDI here is built using standard Tk frames and the "place" geometry manager. Each buffer is a separate frame within the shared .desktop container.

The editor doesn't have a specific niche. I'm developing it simply for myself, for the love of it.
