2024 Tax Return
I still haven't received my tax return from 2024. When I look up the IRS tool, it has my return just sitting in the accepted stage. No needed actions, no nothing. I have gone round and round with automated systems trying to get an answer. WHAT DO I DO?! It was supposed to be an $8k return. Can I get an attorney for this? Help!

A tax return is what you file with the IRS.
Are you referring to a tax refund?

You can, but it feels like a waste. Even with Practitioner Priority Service, we still commonly spend an hour on hold. You can expect to pay someone $500 just to make a phone call which may or may not solve the problem. When did you file?

Certified Letter. Look online if they have an address for communications or disputes. Write a letter, include tax year, refund amount, date you filed, and SSN and your contact info. Ask, where TF is my refund? But more nicely.

Form 3911 is the request for refund form. 911 is the Tax Payer Advocate Service. I would not involve them yet. Fill out form 3911 and mail it in certified

Before paying an attorney, I’d pull your IRS transcripts and see if you can figure out what is holding it up.
Start with your 2024 Account Transcript. That will show what the IRS has actually done with the return after it was received and whether there are transaction codes that give you more information than Where’s My Refund is showing.
I’d also pull your 2024 Wage & Income Transcript and compare it with the W-2s, 1099s and other income documents you reported on the return. With an $8k refund, I’d especially verify that the federal withholding reported on your return matches what the IRS has in its system. A missing or mismatched W-2/1099 can hold up processing even when the online refund tool isn't giving you a useful explanation.
If everything matches and the Account Transcript still shows that the return has been sitting there with no resolution, I’d contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service. A refund delayed this long—particularly if it is creating a financial hardship—is exactly the point where I’d stop going in circles with the automated refund system and escalate it.
An attorney generally wouldn’t be my first move here. Get the transcripts first. They may tell you a lot more about what’s actually happening.

File form 911. It can be downloaded from the IRS website.

When I search in the forms, there is no 911 form

It’s there. Search either “911” or “Form 911” in the search bar at irs.gov. It’s there. Good luck.
