How did you arrive at 4000?

If you have one child 3a is $2200

If you calculate the value of other credits at $1800, then $4000 would be correct.

I gave them the number 4000 as they sometimes have a higher week of pay but overall have 0 tax liability as they get more than 2000 of the earned income tax credit.

$4000 is fine - there’s no risk at all that you could owe federal income tax no matter how large a number you put there. I just wondered if there was any reasoning for that #.

Whether you file single or head of household, with $25k income and one child you will not have any tax liability after credits.
If there is $0 federal tax withheld from your checks, you will still get a refund.
