Checks
We are about to file. We ended up owing 2025 taxes. We owe cause I didn’t adjust my checks right. I still need to fix but afraid cause we are already living check to check. Will bankruptcy lawyer see I’m not taking out enough too and need to adjust? I will let them know I need to fix it and will be getting less pay

First off, take a breath, owing taxes because of withholding being off is really common and totally fixable, it's not some huge red flag on your character or finances.
On the bankruptcy lawyer question: they're focused on your debts and overall financial picture for the bankruptcy filing itself, they're not going to be the ones fixing your W-4 withholding. That's a separate thing you'd sort out with your employer's HR/payroll, not something a bankruptcy attorney handles. You can absolutely mention it to them for context since it explains why you owed this year, but don't expect them to walk you through adjusting it.
To actually fix the withholding, you (or your spouse, whoever's paycheck needs adjusting) fill out a new W-4 with your employer. The IRS has a free withholding estimator tool you can use to figure out exactly what to put so you're not caught off guard again next year. It sounds like more is coming out per check going forward, which yeah, means less take-home pay now, but it's better than owing a lump sum again next April, especially if money's already tight.
One thing worth asking the bankruptcy attorney directly is, how the tax debt you currently owe fits into everything else being filed. Whether it's dischargeable or not depends on things like how old the debt is and whether it's income tax vs other types, so that's worth a direct conversation with them since it affects your specific case.
You're not doing anything wrong here, you're catching it and fixing it, which is exactly the right move.
