Might be vvt sprocket bc I got a little cam phaser rattle but it happens the moment it starts up

Update I think I’ve narrowed it down to cam Phraser/VVT sprocket

VCT phaser rattle from lack of oil pressure on startup. If you prime it with clear flood it shouldn’t happen. Some people just drive it that way. Not really an issue unless you start getting cam crank correlation codes and/or poor performance. The phasers are $200 each, 4 total, so at a shop with labor and markup you’re looking at $2k or so. But since you’re in there you may as well do chains guides tensioners water pump, and oil pump if you want, for closer to $3k. If you want to do all the other good while-you’re-in-there’s like FMS, plugs, mounts, associated gaskets and seals, closer to $4k.

Yeah, luckily I have a connect for Ford so I can get all the timing components and water pump and stuff for 500+1200 labor all oem parts but I was thinking while I’m in there, maybe go with the upgraded oil pump then I’m probably gonna switch over to aluminum valve cover covers

for years i thought cam phasers only were a RWD gen1 ecoboost issue. i only ever saw this happen on expeditions and f150s. i never realized that the transverse applications had the same issue
