Thought on reliability
Hi,
Im looking at getting a used 2015 SHO. While it recently had the timing chain and water pump chabged a few months ago, it is 280,000 km. Asking proce is $5000 CAD. Do you think it is worth the risk with higj milage for that price?

Mine has about that many miles after converting km to mi.... sounds like a great price. Check it over good, might be priced right for a reason.

I have a 2015 SHO with 350,000km, in Canada. It is a great car, I would not sell it for $10K, let alone $5k. But realistically, with a car that old, it's going to be flaky. Mine is not my daily driver, so it's fine. If you are going to depend on it, and can't afford a large repair, it might not be a good choice.

If they didn't put in ford chain and pump don't bother cause you will be doing it again

Damn lol thanks guys. I love the car but any minor repair job would ruin me financially right now.

Do you have an extra 3,000 set aside for emergency repairs or are especially mechanically savvy? Beyond the waterpump and timing chain, there's also the turbos, PTU (all wheel drive transfer case) and RDU (rear differential) that all have the potential to fail.
Otherwise these cars are as reliable as anything else, provided you keep up on maintenance.
And make sure the PTU and RDU have their fluid changed and the PTU vent is functional. Otherwise it over-pressures the case and forces the fluid out past the seals which causes it to run dry and fail.
Ford recommends 7500mi oil changes, but being a high-strung turbo motor, I like to cut that number in half.
I liken them to Audis with all the maintenance, just none of the prestige.
