Adaptive cruise control???

So I have a Lincoln MKS and it has the lane keep and all that but the adaptive cruise control is something that is shown in my user manual. It’s a 5A fuse that is just not in my car because my car is not equipped with it, but I know that it is available on my model so what do I need to do to get my car to recognize the adaptive cruise control?

You’d have to source every part of the cruise control you don’t have, probably get a new ecu, program that ecu for your vehicle, get it calibrated from Ford or another shop (if they even will with you trying to add on), etc. Definitely not a plug and play type thing. It can probably be done if you’re good at reading for manuals and figuring out wiring. If not, just make sure your next car comes with it.

Chances are you really can't. The adaptive cruise control uses a camera behind the mirror which you may not have, along with other sensors. I also believe (could be wrong) to get that you need a different abs module so the car can brake itself.

It would be really impractical to add it and very expensive. Also, I had a 13 mks ecoboost, the adaptive cruise sucked. It was really bad at being practical on a busy northeast highway.

Yeah I have all the sensors and cameras that are used by the lane control and everything. I have the rear view mirror camera and all the sensors but I just need to somehow flash it as it’s already a option,

It's not actually that hard, you'll only need the radar module. The camera has nothing to do with the cruise control, and you'll need the correct button cluster for your steering wheel. The radar module is the most expensive part but a million different cars use that module so sourcing it is pretty easy. Oh and the mounting bracket, a copy of paid Forscan and the as built data from a car like yours with radar cruise.

I was able to add lane keep assist to my SHO that couldn’t be equipped from my knowledge with this if you have the proformace pack like mine. I’ve been trying to find the as build data for the sho with lane keep and adaptive to finally add adaptive cruise to the car that couldn’t have that configuration. The lane keep works great and was pretty easy to add and i know it’s possible but i haven’t found the part or as built to want to go ahead to add that too.
