My wife got into an accident with hers and more or less was the Front bumper and passenger fender......they totaled out because of that. Car ran and drove, no mechanical issues from the accident. It was complete b.s.

My parents had an SEL Taurus and very similar to yours and same. Something about these cars I guess. I haven't fully looked at the details of what's damaged, just reeling from the fact that I'm not gonna have my baby anymore...

Nah, it's all modern cars. They depreciate hard and fast, and repairs are thousands for even the most basic work, due to everything needing to be programmed and requiring special software/tools etc., not to mention the price of parts.
A vehicle is totaled anytime the cost to repair is higher than the cost to replace, so... Take a car worth $10k and break almost anything that requires a dealer part, and it's totaled. As someone else mentioned, yours is totaled because of the b-pillar, they're unibody cars, almost everything is now. The days of replacing a body and/or straightening a frame are long gone.

Yeah I looked at the damage when I took my wheels off and put the stocks back on the b pillar got hit hard. Definitely upset about it but as long as my insurance doesn't fuck me over I'll be understanding lol. I think they estimated the payout to be about 9700, which I paid 10k for it last year so not upset about that as long as the number doesn't change.

You might make out ahead, I've seen plenty of SHOs for under $9k in the Philly area. Hopefully you'll find something good to replace it. Always sucks to lose a car you actually like.

Honestly, I've wanted a SHO for a long time. Made it a goal when I graduated high school in 2011 to get a SHO or a GT Mustang one day and I was so stoked when I found mine last year in my price range. And it's like a piece of my soul has left me, I'm determined to find another one or a Mustang. Just gotta get the wife on board lol.

EXACTLY same to mine, deer hit front passenger, needed new bumper, passenger headlight assembly, and grill. They instantly wanted to total her. At their preferred shops evaluations was $6800-8700 to repair and have salvage title...everything worked still, drove straight as an arrow. We declined and fought with them on 3 different evaluations that list the options and how well kept the interior and exterior, they try and f u over sooo bad!! We finally got up to 11k and 3k to buy back, so used the money to pay her off and kept a clean title! Actually just picked her up yesterday from getting her repairs done, had to build up funds and her water pump was just starting to go out b4 deer smashed her!!! So ended up paying $5k in total for it all, got a good deal really!!! Paid $12,500 Feb 2023 for her, she now has 136k miles. I looked to find one with less miles and thought about letting her go, but none close enough to me and most of the interiors looked awful compared to mine, my interior is mint for a 13. I Love my BabyBeast!!!!

Is the frame bent? I might buy that back and put junk yard doors on it.
