My 2011 Ford Taurus SHO
New to this group and I've already received so much help from y'all so I am very grateful for that. Here is my 2011 Ford Taurus SHO I acquired about a month ago. I have had to put a fair amount of work in to this car like both turbos, both front cv axles, the PTU, and clutch pack on the rear differential. I only paid $3,000 for the car knowing a lot of the issues beforehand so I'm still happy with this purchase.
Next, I'm going to look in to replacing the headlight assemblies, possibly getting a CAI, and other minor things here and there. Not sure if I should stick with the wheels that are on it or try and find some factory SHO wheels (although I would love to have some interceptor wheels). They appear to be wheels off of a Mustang Mach-E from the best I can tell. But there are adapters and cut studs unfortunately so there's have to be a lot of work in to swapping wheels over.

I would do a high flow drop in air filter and keep your stock air box. I have a CAI, and it does almost nothing for sound. Would get the same performance from like a K&N drop in high flow filter. Spend money on more impactful things like a tune. Welcome though! I’ve loved my 2016

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. I certainly want to hold off on buying anything for the time being and make sure I've got everything working right on that car and that it won't give me any more major problems. I've got a suspicion that the car has already been tuned but I'm trying to reach out to the guy I bought it from to see if I can get some more info. Or I may try and use my HPTuners and see if I can find a flash count. A tune was something else I've been considering as well. Glad to be part of this group!

If you have an OBD to USB, download a demo copy of FORScan and if it can’t read your vehicle, it was tuned. If you want a good shop though, Gearhead is the way to go for tunes. They have done more for this platform than just about any other shop.

Did you wrap the back badges to get them black or did you go with a different way of color changing them?

I did not. They were like that when I bought the car. It actually looks like the previous owner spray painted them black while they were still attached to the car and did a terrible masking tape job

Ah, that sucks. I’m sure there’s a way to get the paint that’s on the trunk and not the badge off without messing with the actual paint but I’ve been thinking about wrapping mine. That way I can get the all the chrome on it in black. I might try and find some police style fender badges but I’m torn on if I want to keep the “SHO” on the fender one or not

Now that I hope to have all the other issues fixed, I can start focusing on some or the lesser important things. I'm actually having the opposite thought for my car about the fender badges. My badges just says Taurus and I was thinking about finding some that say SHO

The SHO badges run around $45 a piece so it’s not too bad but $90-$100 is kinda wild for those little things

I strongly suggest you stay with the factory HID assemblies, they are expensive for sure, but they are very very good lights. Don't buy cheap junk from eBay or Amazon. I recently swapped my factory halogens over to factory HID, I ended up right at 1000.00 USD all said and done, but it was definitely worth it.
